@ those claiming reviewers decide quality, here is the answer

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - 97.61
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(GC) - 95.29
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - 94.68
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(Wii) - 94.45
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past(SNES) - 93.50
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - 92.82
The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition - 92.77
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages - 91.89
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past(GBA) - 91.77
Shadow of the Colossus - 91.68
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons - 91.50
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX - 90.85
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - 90.43
Ico - 90.13

That is a lot of Zelda before you get to Shadow of the Colossus and Ico.

By the way, I don't really agree that reviews or a compilation of review scores are the best indicators of quality.

Absolutely I agree that most people will denote Zelda as better than Team Ico.  That isn't why I'm making this argument, I just dislike the argument that sales are directly related to quality and serve as an easy measure of such.  I am not arguing to try and find a way that Team Ico is better.  I have already weighed in on that matter, Zelda is better in general public opinion, Team Ico is better in my personal opinion.

Your argument that reviewers are a better indicator of quality is just as bad.  Especially since gaming criticism is generally piss-poor.

Reviews aren't perfect, but I find them being much closer to reality when it comes to game quality than looking at a game's sales.

This generation, reviewers have been as far removed from reality as I think is possible.

GTA4, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Wii Music off the top of my head.

They don't write reviews from the standpoint of ALL consumers.  They only represent the hardcore audiences.  Examples I can think of include Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and Animal Crossing:  CF.

I am going to start a thread to impeach the "Sony Leader". sign up for it (im sure alot of prople will)

First of all, it's too early to say anything about The Last Guardian except that they released a fantastic trailer.

Second, it's a lil stupid to argue which of two so great and unique franchises is the best. Or maybe it isn't, because IMO everything can be compared.

I don't know what I'm trying to say.

Sorry, but Avinash_Tyagi's argument is so ridiculous that I just have to put my 2 cents in.

I'm not sure if you understand, but your theory of quality = sales must agree with one of two things:

  1. Marketing, popularity, price, (and some other factors) affect sales. We can then conclude that these 3 also affect quality. It's kind of strange that you think commercials and price cuts can make a game better, don't you think?
  2. Marketing, popularity, and price do not affect sales. This is even more ridiculous than the first point, so I'll assume you won't agree with this one.

Alright, on topic - I haven't yet tried Ico, but Shadow of the Colossus is one of my favorite games ever. It stands out from all other games - while the same can be said about the Zelda series, the same cannot be said about the most recent Zelda games. SotC had a bigger impact on me than TP, for example.

Even then, TP was an amazing game. The Team Ico series has a ways to go before it overthrows a series containing: Zelda 1, ALttP, OoT, to name a few.

Wow megaman 2. You have managed to fail yet again. "Valley of the Flood"? Was it really that much harder to go and find the concept art for the new Wii Zelda title?

Terrible Comparison.

Nothing compares to the greatness that are Shadow of the Colossus and ICO.

You looking for a fight, flameboy? If so, read on:

Link's Awakening, on the original Game Boy in 1993, is better than anything the Ico Team has made, including The Last Guardian. And before you rattle off the old "Zelda is stale" rhetoric, let me remind you that the game doesn't have Zelda, Ganon, Hyrule, or the Triforce. (But it does have Shy Guys and Will Wright in it.)
