Forums - Nintendo - Iwata - Nintendo will not stand still while Sony/Microsoft progress

I totally feel I can. The renditions of Zelda and Mario Kart were really bad for this system. As far as the argument that 3rd parties don’t develop for the system; that’s a consequence that is to be expected. It’s easier to port a 360 game to the PS3 then it is to put it on the Wii.  Graphical limitations have honestly held the system back just much its lack of storage. Nintendo also has been porting Gamecube titles to the Wii needlessly. Looking at the last two Nintendo systems; I see a huge problem in the gap between the releases  of its first party titles that leave people like me playing other systems.

staude - innovate != invent, don't get the words confused. Example - Nintendo did not create Bluetooth, but they used the technology to be the way the Wii remote communicates with the console, thus innovating a new type of controller.

Regarding D-pad prior to the NES, I can't recall ever seeing one before that, got any documentation on prior versions?

back to OP - Nintendo buys Sony confirmed?

Actually it's funny you should say this

Because wii doesn't use blue tooth. it uses a camera and 2 lights. Sensor bar imits 2 lights that the wiimotes camera picks up.

It's sonys ps3 controller that uses bluetooth to communicate with it's console. This innovating a new type of controller :P

And read my last post for the d-pad part.

As I see you've already been corrected about the Bluetooth, I'll not add more to that. You learned something new today. Indeed, using bluetooth is an innovating controller, especially when used with the combination of accelerometers to define position/location. I'm interested to see what exactly is used with Wii Motion Plus, as it seems very accurate.

Nintendo is worried. They might loose their casual crown. :O

i don't think so In my opinion I think Nintendo is happy Sony an Microsoft are also investing in motion controller's, which should help the Wii more than hinder it, because the basic's of motion control's would be advanced forward instead of taking a step back. notice how sony's an microsoft's and nintendo's Wii+ their just an evolution on the basic idea. that's the point it will only help further the cause of that type of control scheme for any of the systems. thus increasing the adoption of those type of control's thus increasing software development with that type of control scheme implimented from the get go not just on the Wii, but all the system's that only help's keep developer's impliment software direction which is what Nintendo wanted in the first place.

Lol, first it remains to be seen whether this motion tech from Sony and Microsoft will actually get them anywhere!

it does not have to get them anywhere, both Sony an Microsoft are already somewhere, all it has to do is be seen by the developer's as a "Viable development control sceme" to develop game's with those controll's in mind. which the way it may look with the Wii selling as well as it has, it's not much of a downside for developer's to develop for these type's of control's because the Wii would most likely be included  also by 3rd party's also into the game's control's so the 3rd party game could also be ported onto the Wii. by Microsoft and Sony both development into motion controll's. its no longer just "the Wii" its all three systems will have these type's of control's.

In any one benefits most is the consumer because more game's will be made with new "player to software interaction" new game ideas will result with more unique play dynamic's. for me that's a good thing.

Personally, I'm glad that Sony and Microsoft are finally following Nintendo's lead into the motion controls arena.  It justifies Nintendo's position, and highlights their plight towards the blue ocean marketing.  I also enjoy good competition, and I hope this pushed Ninty.  That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they pull another zinger out of left field and add something totally wild for their next console in the 2011-12 timeframe, like holographic games (combined with motion controls of course).  Nintendo has already filed patents on holographic storage devices.

Hardware is only a means to enjoy great games!

Still, you cannot deny that Nintendo has released more innovtive hardware than MS/Sony, who seemed to have trusted their $s and "only" spending money on god (graphics)technology rather than something innovative.
