There is much hatred out for Wii but much love for DS,all they really need to do is get the same love DS has also for Wii.

It just means that the fight is on. It's a fight between a pro boxer and a child though. With Nintendo being the boxer lol.

In Medieval times, a Knight challenged his opponent by throwing his gauntlet down. Picking it up meant the challenge was accepted. So throwing down the gauntlet means to set forth a challenge. So in this situation it would actually be more apt to say that Nintendo just picked the gauntlet up, not threw it down.
