E3'09: Both consoles will ‘perform to their limits’, though the PC edition will ‘outperform’ all

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has told Develop that there will be little discernable difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of Crysis 2, though the PC version will push ahead of the pack.

Crytek recently revealed that the upcoming sequel to Crysis will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The announcement marked the first time the studio will develop for a console in its ten-year history, a new venture made possible by the flexibility of CryENGINE 3.

Many believe that the engine can push the PS3 and Xbox 360 to their limits, and thus, reveal the high-end differences in hardware power between each.

Yerli disagrees. In an interview with Develop, he said that “as for difference, between Consoles and PC I see a difference.

The PC version will outscale and outperform the consoles. Between each console I believe the experience will finally be next-generation, but similar.”

Yerli added that his aim was not to try and showcase the differences in power between each console, but instead to deliver an acclaimed FPS to as broad an audience as possible.

Also in the interview Yerli states that over 150 staff are working on the game, which has been in development for over two years. He also said he expected the game wouldn’t take as long to produce than the original Crysis.

I honestly believe that if they wanted to, they can push the PS3 further then the 360. But too bad the PS3 controllers sux for FPS games.

Yeah, I think the PS3 could outperform the 360, and there can be much more content on the disc as well.. But. I don't get the problem with PS3 controllers. What's the big deal?  But, then again, I perfer fighters, and the 360's d-pad is retarded for fighters...  So much accidental jumping..  But.. hey, you know what?  I've.. never played a true 1st Person Shooter on PS3 before, now that I think about it.

The closest thing to that is MGS4.  Ah well.. dont they make some sort of converter for the 360 controller to be played on the PS3?

This made absolutely no sense....but ok.

@op

Has there been any gameplay footage on the game because I really want to see how it looks on consoles?

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

I hate people who say they don't like specific controllers, when i play either console lets say cod4 and use either controller, I cant tell the difference, once im in the zone i become one with the controller lol, "A bad works man always blame his tools"

back to topic: I cant wait till we see some more screen shots of crysis with the differences in platforms pointed out

Crysis isn't going to have that same problem it did with computers is it?

It made sense and he is right. PS3 has terrible controls for shooters it just feels more confortable with a 360 controller.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

No, "they can they push the ps3 further then the 360" be a valid response. He is not a game developer so how would he have any idea of how much the ps3 can be pushed , he making the crytex guys look lazy. If they could push the ps3 further han the 360 , they would.

And the ps3 controller does not suck for shooters. The 360 controller might be better but the ps3 controller is nothing to complain about.

i think both versions will look awesome and each side will be happy. :)

As long as both look awesome, I don't really care, now I need to decide if I should get it for PC or one of the consoles.
