Forums - Microsoft Discussion - E3 got me thinking it might be time to add a 360 to the setup

Toshiba Regza! Top of the line! But spendy. If you don't buy a huge TV, and you have no other HiDef sources, then a Vizio will do just fine.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

A great console, amazing exclusives, equal to all competitors, as a pure gaming machine. 199 dollars. I mean, why not own one?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

No, none at all. IN fact, the arcade sku is the only one that guarntees the latest chipset.

The only thing missing from the arcade unit is a hard-drive. A 20gb HD is 20 dollars on ebay, used. Frankly, the arcade is a better machine than the elite.

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

I watched the MS E3 conference on Monday, and it got me wanting to add a 360 to the setup. I'd toyed with the idea of getting a 360 before, but eventually talked myself into just doing a PC upgrade. I've come to realize that while I enjoy the good games that the Wii has, I do miss the days of vegging out in a beanbag chair, blowing off the world for an entire Saturday afternoon.

What really grabbed my attention was Splinter Cell and Assasins Creed 2. Sure, they're probably gonna hit the PC too, but I'm getting tired of being in front of a computer so often. I'd been pulled towards getting a 360 in the past, and the pull is back, but not because of any motion sensing BS shown this week. If I want motion controlled games, I have my Wii for that. I want a couch potato system, something I can veg out with, get cramped thumbs and the bloodshot eyes, like the good old days. I guess its the core gamer that's always been there, and he wants more gaming time.

It'll be a bit yet, as funds are directed to other locations, namely investing into my dev team's FPS game, but I think before the year is out, I might have a 360 hanging out next to my Wii.

The downside is, that's going to nag me to get a HDTV too. Why is this hobby so damn expensive??

You have to ask yourself, "Why don't I just move my PC to the living room?". It's just so easy to move your PC into the living room and make it act as a Home Theater PC, and you won't need to waste additional money on another console.

And yes, Splinter Cell Conviction and AC2 are coming to PC.

I don't understand why people complain about PCs not letting you to sit on the couch, when the current trend is the reverse due to the huge rise of laptops.

PC's usually don't look good in the living room shio.

Bro..if you move your PC into the living room then you won't have a PC in the back room. How the hell am I supposed to watch porn in the living room?

Also, my PC costs like 2,000 dollars. You think I'm gonna let mom touch it, even to put in a Blu-Ray?

Next, what am I supposed to play on my computer? All the good games have securom. Also, all the exclusive games are on consoles now. There is no first party for the computer.

Finally, I like to play games on a controller, but I can't exactly boot games up without my mouse and keyboard. It's unacceptable to have to change input methods. Also, do I have to buy a wireless mouse and keyboard?

...but wait, there's more. Do I expect everyone to have a 1000 dollar PC? They need one if they want to play HD games the way they are meant to be played. Ever try maxing out even old PC HD games with a duel core CPU? Bottleneck like a mug. Can't upgrade a CPU. In fact, most people can't upgrade a PC.

That said, yeah, it is possible to move my PC into the living room. Landing on the moon is also possible, but it is a hell of a lot more trouble than doing absolutely nothing, which is what a console requires. Also a hell of a lot more expensive, and requires a hell of a lot more training, and infinite knowledge.

I'm sure they will, probably after their 360 counterparts, and almost certainly containing some sort of malicious spyware that will cause everyone on amazon to rate the game as a 1/5, and also cause the only people who play it to be Internet theives, and finally cost at least 1000 dollars to buy a PC capable of playing it as it was meant to be played, which can be emulated on a 199 360 1 year prior to its epic PC release, which PC fans will do nothing but complain about.

To argue Shio's point, not that its convinced me to change my mind, you can build a micro atx system with a sweet case for pretty cheap - Check this bad boy out - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144143

Its a little bigger than a GameCube, comes in different colors, but I know that XB fans prefer the green/black combos =)

Shio - to answer the question, its the input method. If I sit on my couch even with a wireless kb&m, its still kinda awkward. A big issue for me is the vanishing support for traditional joysticks in PC games. I was really disappointed with id's decision to not allow for joystick configuration for Quake 4. As said earlier, I use a gamecube usb adapter so I can rig the left side of my GC controller, and a mouse in the right hand. Its as close to a HD Wii experience as one can get. While Im sure there are ways to make this wireless, the issue is that the games themselves are starting to do away with control mapping, at least some of the big ones. For example, if RE5 doesn't allow for control mapping, then Im stuck with their input method, which can make for a lousy experience. With a console, I can have my controller and be a lazy blob on the couch.

BTW, couch potato gamer challenge for all - Take any game you beat, then replay it, sitting upside down on the couch.
