Its not for the kids, but my fav Wii game right now is Bully. LOTS of fun

Yeah, I know Bully, but never got around to picking it up on PS2. Is the Wii version any different? Worth buying instead of PS2 version?

I never played Bully, but Godfather: Blackhand edition is essentially the same kind of game (sandbox game) and was the best I've ever played. I never had more fun choking, beating and shooting people to death. I know, it sounds so horrible

No, it sounds like a good bit of gaming to me.

On that, for those that know, how do Wii games of this ilk compare to PS3 games of this ilk? Am I better sticking to PS3 games for this sort of stuff, or is there anything on the Wii worth checking out?

There are only like 3-4 sandbox games on Wii that I know of. People generally agree that Godfather Wii is by far the definitive version of Godfather and is one of the best sandbox games they have ever played solely due to the controls. I have no other recommendations for sandbox games on Wii. As bard pointed out he enjoyed bully, but it seems most people on this website didn't pick it up.

I beat the game in a single 2-week rental from blockbuster (yay for exploiting their policy )

Thanks, that helps.

Any idea about RPGs? (or, indeed, any one else?)

No More Heroes! Glorious over-the-top nonsensical slashing, great style and a neat sense of humor! :D

Sounds fun. Anyone else think this is worthwhile?

Whatever you do, just don't get Mario Kart Wii.

Stick with something like Excite Truck.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

As for Link's Crossbow Training: isn't that the game with the peripheral (I know, more ignorance again)? Do any other games use it?

It does have a "gun."  But, like the Wheel, the gun really is just a plastic case, and it's not necessary to play this or any other game (i.e. you can just use the Wiimote+nunchuck).

But yeah, other games, like Umbrella Chronicles, do have preset control schemes that are designed to take advantage of the gun... but it's never the only way to play any of 'em.

Cool. That sounds good, especially as Umbrella Chronicles was drawing my eye. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, you can usually buy cards on the cheap if you shop around a bit, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Also here's a Trauma Center trailer:

It's a surgery game. "New Blood" has co-op, if that's your bag.

Ri-i-i-ight. There's a reason I'm not a doctor. I'm not sure that's for me. For those that have this: is it a good game? Worth it? I'm not convinced so far.

FIre Emblem: Radiant Dawn is awesome, but you should pick up Path of Radiance before that if that's your kind of thing. Radiant Dawn is the sequel - Path of Radiance is a Gamecube game, but since you have a Wii that isn't a problem, I suppose.

Here is a topic where some of the Fire Emblem fanatics gather.

Cool. Looks like me have have a winner. I'll check that out properly later. Is Path of Radiance hard to find?

Depends on how much you want to pay and where you live. I found it for $20 used at a ebgames, but it took me months to track down. My cousins live in a much more populated area and found it imidiately at a ebgames.

Cool. I get the idea. I'll have a fish about, see what I can find.

Okay, that went against the consensus. Any reason why I shouldn't get it?

As I mentioned earlier in the over-posted-by-me thread, I really am clueless when it comes to Wii games. Is there any reasons those titles rock? What are they? Genres? That sort of thing.

Anyway, I'm off to play a little; be back later, all. Thanks very much for the help, it's greatly appreciated.

if you interested in trying wiiware, world of goo is the best game on there (someone mentioned really far back in this thread in a huge block of titles, and you asked for clarificationn on why they are worth it).

world of goo is a brigde builder like puzzle game where you build structures out of gooballs to a pipe. the structures react to gravity and physes, ect, so they will fall over if not build with a good foundation, ect. you can find a pc demo of the game on 2dboy.com if you want to try that first. it has very stylish graphics and very well done music and sound effects, and everything just melds together nicely. you can also play cooperatively if you turn on more that one wiimote and point it at the screen.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312

yes, this is vonboy's alt account. i can't log into my original account, and i'm not sure if i will ever be able to.
