Forums - Sony Discussion - Do you think this E3 has killed Sony is Dead Threads?

until sony is out of last, unfortunately, the threads wont stop

thats just how it goes.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Here is a link to the Famitsu sales for 2002 in Japan:

http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Famitsu_2002_video_game_sales

As you can see, the PS2 version of FF XI sold 150k copies in 2002, its debut year. It did not chart in the top 300 or 500 best-selling games any year after that.

If you look at the 2003, 2004, and 2007 charts, the FF XI expansions sold 132k, 129k, and 74k in their respective debut years, and did not chart after their debut years.

So the PS2 version of FF XI, plus its expansions, likely sold about 500k total in Japan. Assuming that many of the expansion sales were to repeat buyers, the game probably moved no more than 250k PS2s in Japan.

Oh well, we're talking about FFXIV here anyway, and yeah it will sell 1 to 2 million at least just like FFXIII, GT5, and FF Versus XIII bringing the total number of PS3s sold in Japan by the end of this gen up to over 10 million while the 360 won't sell 2.5 million there this gen much to the chagrin of many. PS3, PSP and Sony won't be leaving gaming anytime soon again much to the chagrin of many westerners and their lackluster western console.

the ps3 was never dead to beign with. xbots and wii fanboys are just jealous of our fantastic exclusives.

Of course not! They will find (read: make up) new reasons for sony's inevitable demise.

Oh, I didn't know Sony's financial losses were made up by 360 fanboys...

my bad..

Nothing is gonna stop the ps3 is dead threads. Even though there is no proof that its dead. There has already been a thread in the past that if the ps3 and 360 were both launched at the same time ps3 would be ahead even at the price its been. Would it be winning? No very doubtful but just ignore the ps3 is doomed threads. and no price cut Sony fails?? umm no. Failure in that statement. Even with the ps3 at the price it is now, for it to be

Let's see - No price cut + no must have games announced for '09 = continually declining sales for PS3 = PS3 is Dooooommmed threads galore I should think, especially if 360 continues to have a record year.

Great to see 2010 looking like a freaking fantastic year with GT5, GoW3, FFXIII, FFXIII VS, FFXIV all due to hit along with a price cut though.

Why does Sony need a price cut when its selling in par with 360

It doesn't, nor should they cut the price.  Sony has lost too $$ much as it is.   But without one 'PS3 is dead' threads will continue unabated.

Umm the ps3 was 8 million behind and now its less than that even with the price at where its at. Yes a price cut would help sell more but the ps3 is NOT doomed or Xbox 360 would be mirkin it right now and yet its not.So if the ps3 is doomed then so is 360
