People who buy a Wii with WM+ in mind will obviously be disappointed if there's no game using it. So there has to be something really big using it, because there's a big userbase ready to play games that use it. Maybe that's just me, but I'm sure that after a strong start we will see a sudden dropoff if there's no games available that use it.

People who already own a Wii own it regardless, but people that buy it for the M+ will want M+ games. Anyways big games are always needed, but also a constant flow of games, because it gives users more choices, not "the single big release that comes every 2 months" because not everyone will find it appealing, hence losing interest in the console very rapidly.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Not a terribly high number for the first day of Arc Rise Fantasia, but it DID sell 2K more than Muramasa and clear half of its shipment, so it can't be THAT bad. I really don't see this game having the same impact as Monster Hunter 3, but I think it will be a cult favorite.

Just think about this, why do you think Nintendo is releasing a sequel to Wii Fit so soon? Because a lot of people own the Wii only because of Wii Fit and there's no other software that makes use of it, so Nintendo needs to capitalize on this audience before it's too late. There's obviously a lot of people who bought the Wii only for the balance board and they lose interest if there's no new content for it.

IGN says Wii 18k, Ps3 12k so Wii is rising a bit, let's see what happens in 2 weeks

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Checking imageepoch's profile page, they have managed to have rather "niche" hits at best. Total overall sales data for their games:

Luminous Arc: 60K Japan; 160K America
Luminous Arc II: 100K Japan; 180K America
Sands of Destruction: 110K Japan
7th Dragon: 140K Japan

If ARF gets lucky it'll probably climb to roughly inbetween Japan's total of the Luminous Arc titles. I only wonder how it'll do here in America?

Wii hardware seems to be rising slow but steady in Japan again. 18 k this week according to Media Create without a new game. Hmm, buildup for Wii Sports Resort and motion plus?

I checked Amazon Japan and the game was sold out with them.

Of course Amazon is a bad indicator, but seems like they should ship a lil' more.
Also I'm impressed by Evangelion in Japan, are the games bad or the franchise is finally dead in Japan?

Wow... top 2 DS games reach 500k :D Great debute for both :D

Musou 5 had a good opening... I was hoping it would reach to 100k first week but its a bumped up port so yeah :| 96 k is pretty nice to :P

HAWX has a surprisingly big debute, it seems that some western games are starting to become pretty popular surprassing many niche RPGs first week and LT sales ;)

They were quoting Media Create.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Media Create has Monster Hunter G in the Top 25 at like #22, but for Famitsu, it isn't even in the top 30.

Whatever the case, both places tracked Kingdom Hearts between 291-295, so 293k for the week is a happy medium. Should go on to sell quite a bit more in the long run. I say 380k Lifetime. I also hope to be pleasantly surprised :)
