Forums - Nintendo - New Super Mario Bros pushing limits of wii.

I've refined your search to make it more relevant. They have all sold half as much as Mario Kart or less, and only one of them has online play (an early and cumbersome implementation, I might add). You might add in SSBB, if you want another game with Mario and clumsy online.

I just have a hard time believing that the labour investment isn't worth it when the one game with Mario and an excellent online system has sold 8 million units more than any other Mario game on the platform. How many millions of units would online have to shift to justify the cost? I would think less than one.

So what do you think then?  Do you think that the Wii really can't handle it?  Do you have another theory?

My theory is simple. I think Nintendo is making a bad decision. Possibly because they felt the need to rush a big IP out the door this holiday, unless SMG2 is supposed to come out this year.

it doesn't matter if there's no online, we got used to it, but it would be great...

i still don't understand how Super Mario Bros. Wii is pushing Wii hardware, you can say about Mario Galaxy, Smash, Metroid but Mario Bros?

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I think the truth is, the point of the game is to have friends to play with.

Miyamoto didn't want to answer the same question 50 times so he just gave that fluff answer.

Seriously though if you have no friends or family members to play this with, you might have bigger problems anyway, lol. This looks like something anyone could pick up and play.

In other news, if you believe that I have a cloned dinosaur available for sale or renting.

This is such a lazy scam to push hardware in Japan.

It looks and plays exactly like the DS game. Why not put it on DS?

You´re right that it will probably sell bucketloads in Japan and push hardware as well, at least I hope it will!

I love 2d and we haven´t had a 2d sidescrolling mario for a homeconslole in almost 20 years! Why can´t we be happy about that we finally will be getting a 2d retro Mario for Wii?

I think it´s fantastic, almost too good to be true. It seems like 2d is coming back, it´s just so sad that some think that games should go to Wiiware or something just because it´s not 3d. 2dgames deserve to be advertised and get huge sales. I know I´m happy about this anyway, it´s a frickin miracle. A 2d mario for a homeconsole, first since Super Mario World. Now let´s bring back some true 2d Metroid

Well, after seing how crappy Little Big Planet is ONLINE, I would say PS3 doesnt have this power either...

Hey, 2D Mario is a lot bigger in Japan at least than 3d Mario and Metroid! And Japan is the place where they need to push hardware the most.
