Forums - Sony - How can Sony not "win" this E3?

sweet, apparently my previous post actually made sense :D

Well given that there's been leaked/released footage for nearly all of those games already, none of them would provide the shock necessary for sony to wow the press and "win" E3.

You're not going to wow anyone with Uncharted 2 gameplay and it's amazing graphics, because we've already seen what it'll look like. Same with GoW, GT5 and R&C.

Give firm release dates and Sony will be in the right directon to win.

What they need is an announcement, a big one.

It is Sony's E3 to lose, and if they only show what we've known about for years now, they'll lose big time.

Not cutting the price. That's how they fuck up

weve already seen most of the stuff. E3 needs surprises

Release date for GT5 and that would be all the world would need!

I agree with the general sentiment here which is you can't win E3 by just showing a bunch of games that have already been announced and even seen, at least in video form. To 'win' E3 you need to show new stuff, things that are unexpected, revolutionary even.

Having said that Sony could still make a big impact or even 'win' if several of the games that we already know about e.g. GOW3, GT5 are playable and surpass current expectations for those games, which is admittedly pretty high.

No company can "win" e3 anyway so it's a mute point. If you mean which company can have the greatest impact then I think Sony will need more than games they've hyped for over a year personally. If the slim had turned out to be true then that combined with 3 or 4 huge unannounced games and they really would have made waves, guess we'll see soon enough anyway.

Winning E3 is a very interesting thing.

Do you mean from a gamers standpoint? or a mass market stand point?

Personally I think you are right. If all someone cares about are games, then Sony has to fuck up monumetaly to not win.

If you are talking about winning E3 as in building up so much new and innovative stuff that it boosts hardware, then I think SOny could easily be in a bit of trouble.

What it comes down to is most consumers see games as a side feature. They are more into the gimics that an electronic device brings. With the new camera shown by MS today, they have something that has major mass market potential, because it could be the new cool thing. Now what Sony has to do is prove that they already have all of this capability with the current PSEYE. Even if what they show is a watered down version of what MS showed, Sony is only a FW update away from giving this feature to every PSEYE owner. That would allow them to hit the market first and get the buzz on PS3's side. Perhapps they could even annopunce that they will have an HD PSEYE later in the year that will enhance these features even more.

So there it is. The minority report stuff is the talk of the town right now, and only uping the anite on that can swing the momentum in either Nin, or Sony's directions. Traditional games are no longer a driving force behind sales, and in reality that is what winning E3 is about. What can a company show to push sales above the competition?

4 ≈ One

Since we know every single game on that list, some with trailers or even gameplay, Sony would lose with this. They need to announce new stuff and MS did a pretty good job in doing so.

Crackdown 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Halo Reach, Forza Motorsport 3 (it was officially announced), Metal Gear Rising and Natal are very hard to beat.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
