Forums - Sony - PS3 Slim + PSP GO + Price Cut

What will happen in terms of sales when the PS3 slim is released at $299.99 and the PSP GO at $110.99 to $180.99?

Plus:

- Gaming line-up

- More bundles

- More marketing

- bit more casual approach

What will happen? My thoughts, the PSP GO, will be outselling the DSI or trailing closely behind. Also software sales for the PSP GO will be huge. Not quite as many legs as DS games have, but will have huge first week sales for megaton games.

With the PS3 slim, the gap between the 360 and PS3 will shorten to 5.2 million, even with a 360 price cut. Also the PS3 slim will outsell the 360 at christmas, but will perform very close to Wii's sales (during christmas). Software sales will be huge, due to the fan base growing and quality and quantity games. Also they will be getting more 3rd party support then before, due to the fan base growing.

Also finally I believe that when the PS3 slim is released, Sony will be making a profit of $2 per PS3 slim console. Also they will be losing money with the new PSP GO, but will make profit after 5-6 months with the new psp.

Tell me what you guys think. Post your predictions below.

Any chance we might see a PSlim3 and PSPgo packaged together?

^^maybe, I saw an article from n4g.com, about 1 month ago with the same thing you said.

You think that somehow the PS3 Slim will save Sony so much money that even though they're still losing money on the current $400 model, they can cut the price by $100 and somehow be making money afterwards? Not real likely there.

Yeah i mean obviously that wouldnt be a price cut if they were packaged together and might even run a little bit more but i am sure that when sold separatly we would probably see PSlim3= 299.99-329.99 and PSPgo $99.99-$129.99

hahahahahahahaha

Hey Keith, are you already in Los Angeles?

the PSP GO is probably cheaper to manufacter with no umd drive because the majority of the pwoer comes from the spinning disc so other parts can use less power and cost less.

ps3 slim also will have cost cutting features, probably zero ps2 compat, smaller cpu which means less heat, so less durable parts are needed..

i actually think for once this was a very smart plan for sonny to do.. its just what they needed to do right now

prediction: wii to sell 150million console by end of 2010

^^ agree with you jellyfish

no way the Go debuts at $99. thats absurd to think. double that and youll have a much more accurate prediction.
