Forums - Nintendo - Reggie: Price Cuts are baaaad. Software is goooood

I'm in the UK and I saw an advert for Wii the other day and at the bottom of the screen it had the words "Console from £199.99". Now I'm pretty sure I got mine for £179.99. So pricecuts are bad, but price rises are good? lol. I know its due to the global recession and exchange rates but seriously, wtf? The Wii may be the only console to finish a gen more expensive then when it started! (and still sell wel, lol)

And yes, software is an important factor. However, just as important I feel is people actually knowing what software is on the system. There is no point in having great software if you don't have great advertising and Nintendo has nailed the advertising for Wii.

Well a $50 price cut probably isn't going to do much. I mean how many people are waiting for a $50 price cut? Supply is still moving to so It's unnecessary. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wii go four years or more without a price cut if it keeps selling at It's current rate. Nintendo is swimming in money right now.

It's just that simple.

I remember reading that Nintendo increased the price to match the sinking pound but the increase in cost didn't keep up compleetly. Meaning that the price difference wasn't fully compensated by the increase. So in a sense it's a bit cheaper.

Don't blame Nintendo for this, blame Gorden Brown.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

That's why Nintendo is pumping out quality, hardcore games like there's no tomorrow as of late. Oh wait!

Ok, You are right Reggie. Give us Starfox, Kirby, F.Zero, Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda, Kid Icarus at E3 and we will see if you are telling the truth.

Too bad such games are fast and iniexpensive to make, so it's reasonable for one company to pump them out constantly. Oh wait!

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Eh, I'd rather have Nintendo do their thing and  take forever on a great title, than to pump out Zelda 2009 or whatever. Sure, unlike last gen, where there was enough multiplatform 3rd party GC games to satiate me, I had to pick up a 360 and PS3 this gen, but the main games I wait for are and probably always will be Nintendo ones.

Some of them are already finished, but still haven't come here.

At least they put most of their resources and time into these types of games and they advertise them a lot, not to mention giving them a great push at E3 and relevate events rather than crap like Wii Music. Oh wait!

I'll blame both as MS has kept the 360 as cheap as chips, and Sony have kept PS3 as expensive as a small black ferrari. But Gordon Brown is a mug and I blame him more than Nintendo.
