Forums - Sony - Heavy Rain - Won't be ready for 2009

Tough luck for Sony, however I still understand why this game is so hyped up. Yea the graphics looks nice but there's nothing to back up that this will be a system seller/killer exlusive, or do we need to remind everyone about Lair and how everyone, including the media, claimed it would be a total blockbuster?

Did you by chance play Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit? Since that game is what really created the principles that Heavy Rain rely on, people are excited. Those of us who liked that game anyway

If you were expecting PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain to arrive some time this year, you can think again. Geoff Keighley Who Hates Bloggers has confirmed that, despite Sony's David Reeves calling it the most important title of 2009, Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain won't see the light of day until 2010.

While this news will be seen as very expected by some, it doesn't take away from the fact that Sony's apparent hot year of exclusive titles has been a little disappointing compared to what we expected at the top of 2009. As last year drew to a close, we were looking at Killzone 2, inFAMOUS, Heavy Rain, MAG and God of War III. Now Heavy Rain and GoW III are confirmed for 2010, and it'll be surprising if MAG doesn't join them.

This is the big problem with the PS3. Its hottest exclusives are excellent games, but they are few and far between. The PS3 user experience seems to consist of a lot of waiting around while listening to promises, and it's really quite frustrating. Still, it's doing a little bit better than the Xbox 360 right now, so that's something.

What? 2009 has just started and we've seen Killzone 2, MLB 09 and Infamous already for the PS3, compared to the Wii's Punchout and the 360's nothing

The bolded part said it was doing better... whats your problem?

what do u expect from a game that will be at least twice the size of anything on a dvd. It takes time and effort to get everything right.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Yeah he mentioned it at the end of a Heavy Rain video posted a few days back.

I guess for the holidays, Sony are going to rely on R&C, Uncharted 2, and possibly MAG.

That sounds very much like Holidays 2007, minus Lair.

Still... all we have on xbox is Halo.... so yea this is pretty much 2007s lineup lol.

If Alan Wake isn't delayed, there is a decent chance it will wipe the floor with both Uncharted 2 and R&C, the only two PS3 exclusives of note that appear to still have 2009 release dates...

Well thats purely your opinon which is great but ive played uncharted and it was awesome and ive played almost every R&C and its one of the best platformers out there but ive never played alan wake... so forgive me if im a little more excitied for the sony  games lol.

edit: and if you mean wipe the floor with these games as in sales then mab..... but anything esle is crazy at this point as we can guess Uncharted is getting 85-90% metric and R&C as well. but alan wake is a new IP that has been delayed more times then the game in this thread..... So we cant guess anything on this game as of yet... but E3 will le us know more i hope.

I like the irony of Alan Wake being brought into this.

While Sony and MS struggle, Nintendo rules: world domination's approaching! BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
Sorry, couldn't help that!

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the wii have the "worst" draughts since the gamecube?  Your post is off-topic so it seems more like a troll post, either way Nintendo is not one to put up as the console with the greatest saturation of games period either.

So, a game in which we know little to nothing about is going to wipe the floor with 2 games that we know are going to be quality?

May I please borrow that crystal ball of yours?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I'd rather have my great exclusives get delayed over not having exclusives too look forward to at all. Lol excluding expansion packs of course.

Depends on your definition of "wiping the floor"

Graphically, the PC version of Alan Wake will indeed wipe the floor with those two, but on the 360? Beating Uncharted 2 is not going to be easy, let's just say that

In terms of gameplay quality, we have absolutely no clue. Alan Wake could turn out to be a mediocre horror flick for all we know, so that one is still pretty much up in the air.

The 2009 PS3 line up isn't as solid as some want to make out. What is actually confirmed for this christmas??

I wonder why Reeves ever touted this as a 2009 release ...
