Logging in from another page works, but for example in Forums' main page it isn't perfect too, the form is partially covered, although luckily still usable:

I bet it's the main reason the sites slow now.

If you are asking me, no, I haven't to do it every time, I logged out just to take a screenshot of the home page as unlogged, to show how the login and password form are hidden in my case.

Again. Top Flash banner with main menu gone again, time to restart FF (in VGC 1.0 when Flash died, on Linux it was enough to kill "npviewer.bin", now it's unkillable as long as FF runs, so restarting FF is unavoidable)

Good things:

- The color scheme looks cool, no doubt about that.
- The use of AJAX is a good idea for things like comment pages in the news articles.

Bad things:

- AJAX was used too much, for example it's now impossible to open links from the top bar in new tabs.
- The front page is way too cluttered. It's bad enough for me and I'm used to the content, I can only imagine how cluttered it looks to someone who visits the site for the first time.

I didn't read through this humongous thread, so these things may have been pointed out before...

AJAX isn't used for the top bar. That's Flash.

With AJAX you would be able to open in new tabs.
