I've been wanting this for over a year!

I think the color scheme was chosen to make people with the "PLAYSTATION®3 is the future......NOW.......B_3_L_I_E_V_E" in their sigs do away with them. It looks like crap with the drak grey. ~_n

White on black is actually easier on the eyes on a computer monitor due to it not blasting bright light in your face. Personally, I prefer black on white as that is what I'm used to, but there is no way this white on gray is harder on your eyes. (unless you are the few unlucky people who have display issues, as some have said that it is light gray instead of dark gray) |
It's actually harder on the eyes if you wind up switching from dark to light to dark to light over and over.
If you have an entire system theme of darker colors then this is true but the moment you need to switch back and forth it's begins to hurt more than it helps.
It was bad enough reading 95% of the posts on this site, which are largely idiotic. Reading them on this eye-raping background, though, gives new meaning to the word pain.
Im used to this site already
Honest, it doesn't take long. Have an open mind and give it a few days and you should really like the site
The biggest problem with the site is the width. Rule #1 of website design is to make the site accessible to the widest audience possible, with 40% of people out there still using 1024x768 resolution, making the site too wide for this resolution is a very, very bad decision. If you manage to turn away even 10% of current and potential users because of this than you are getting the opposite result you wanted. At the very least, the site should auto adjust DOWN to fit a 1024 width monitor if needed.
Though not a killer, another general assumption is that websites with lighter backgrounds feel more inviting than websites with darker backgrounds. They are also generally easier to read as the eye is more accustomed to reading dark text on a light background (as with text on paper).
where is the release dates for the games? they were near the pool question before..
