Forums - Nintendo - High Voltage: The Conduit wont suffer Madworld sales fate

Half a million is bad? If games had to sell a million to make a profit, then the whole industry would go under (minus Nintendo, but they would see a decrease as people would lose interest in a non-competitive industry).

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Perhaps this is just applying the doom and gloom requirements of anything covering Nintendo. Didn't someone recently post an article about WiiMusic being a failure after selling 2.5 million games as an example of Nintendo being on the brink of collapse?

Now Playing: Pikmin, Super Mario Galaxy 2

i dont think it will sell that well i believe it has a chance at a million but not too likely... hope im wrong though this may be my 1st wii fps

 Goalpost moving confirmed.

Stop getting so excited about a Kid Icarus remake... the original NES Icarus sucked.

Honestly, I can't wait for this game to come out. One way or another, we are going to see if the core on the console is gong back up a game or let fall like the rest. I don't expect it to do X360 numbers (that where are the FPS fans live) but I think it will do as well as say a Killzone 2 in the end. Take it as you may...

Funny thing, if this does make the "sales numbers", the flood gate of "Teen" shooters will be out next year. You can also take that as you may...

I'm just saying...

Why is everyone accusing the Wii fanbase of just about everything? "Not hardcore", "Wii Fit", "little kids", "only first-party sells", etc (speaking in general here, not just in this thread).

It's noone's fault that previous FPS efforts (haha) on Wii haven't sold adequately, or "hardcore titles" in general. It's Capcom's, EA's, Activision's job to CREATE, MOVE, INTEREST people towards their titles.

When you make a product and it doesn't sell as you hope it would, you don't blame the consumers, that only make things much worse; you ACT on it. You advertise, you improve, you OFFER. If Resident Evil 5 or FFXIII were on the Wii I doubt any of the HD snobs would turn away.

Huh? I have very little interest in this game. I do not like first person shooters, and don't really care if more or less people buy Wii consoles.

That being said, there are a ton of games on all the consoles that are decent in their genre, made a profit and sold less than one million.

Edit: I have always been against the gamers' Manichean "awesome or sucks" mentality.  This mentality is what turns gamers into trolls on forums and, in general, leads to a misunderstanding of how the world works.

Edit2: I personally love my Wii, I still won't be personally offended whether or not anyone buys this game, and I still don't think 500k is a failure.

How about coming back to reality, where none of this was ever claimed.

 Seriously?

The thread is only 4 pages long.  Read it.  In fact, I believe the first post (YOURS!) details how High Voltage feels the Conduit is on par with 360 & PS3 graphics.  The other points I listed have been made in this thread already.

I believe your comment was "Wii graphics are now suddenly as good as PS3 and 360", absolutely nobody, including HVS claimed this. My OP details HVS' thoughts on The Conduit sales when compared with Madworld and House of the Dead: Overkill, it has nothing to do with HVS' feelings on the graphics.

The comment about the graphics being on par with PS3/X360 games was made by VideoGamer, not HVS, and anyone could clearly see the term was used rather loosely. Did you read the OP? I don't think you did. Nobody claimed The Conduit would sell more than CoD, in fact, everyone who mentioned the CoD franchise has probably said The Conduit wont sell anywhere near recent iterations. Read things through properly before posting please.

How technical is your game?

Or, it could be the fact that the overwhelming majority of Wiis sold were done so as "Wii Sports" machines.  These people will not be moved towards buying shooters.  If 20% of the Wii install base are "hardcore"/may potentially buy a shooter, then that is less than 10 mil "install base" to sell these games to.  Are any of you guys understanding the issue yet?

Sorry, I thought we were in fantasyland, you know.. where Wii graphics are now suddenly equal to PS3 and 360, where the Wii now has a FPS fanbase, and where the Conduit is going to sell more than COD. My bad.

The Conduit....comes out the 24th....35 days away.......
Don't you mean the 23rd...? Don't tell me i got the dates wrong. I though new games came out on Teusday's in the US, which June 23rd is on, also, wiki kinda says 23rd...
