This is just your xbot view on it.

They are marketing it and plan to push it hard, thats a good thing.

it plays games and Br movies, market that forget everything else.

Chill out with the name calling. That's like a perfect way to get banned.

its just a troll thread form a well known xbot, thats what he is.

If you come up with a good name like that for sont fanboys feel free to call me that, SP (sony psycho would fit me)

All he does is make anti Ps3 threads, its well known.

Ah Hus, trolling again.

Sure you don't work for Sony? Your comments sound remarkably similar to their marketing bull. Should we get a second job too to pay for it as well? Blu-Ray, the American dream huh? Lol.

Square has made numerous comments telling Sony to stop messing up, but then they've also always turned around and made kiss-ass comments. Both they and Konami are riding Sony all the way down as its lap dogs it would seem, they put just enough on the DS and Wii to stay in business but for the most part want their big games to be Sony and the presidents of both companies have had harsh words for Sony that have gone unheeded.

I think having the blue-ray player has helped SONY tremendously. Just look at the jump in sales when the free Blue-ray movies where announced. I just don't see how this could hurt SONY in any way. If your a gamer then you KNOW the playstation 3 plays games and if you had a playstation 2 odds are you know the playstation 3 is a gaming machine. The reason it isn't selling is because of lack of content and high price which you can say is related to it having a blue-ray drive but not because people don't know that it plays games. I just don't see this as being a big deal as based on my experience people know it is game machine but just on the expensive side.

I don't feel the Blu-Ray player helped Sony tremendously, in fact I think it hurt them severely since it has kept the price of the system hundreds of dollars more than it could have been.  I think Sony's focus on making the PS3 a "mighty home electronics product" as Waga put it is what cost them a lot of potential marketshare and I think that until they realize that, things are only going to remain the same with the PS3.  It's not too late for them to turn the PS3 around but time is definitely running out for them and they don't have the luxury and can't afford to get themselves into a delicate "balancing act" as Kaz Hirai put it in order to help other Sony divisions push Blu-Ray.

I still don't know what this ballzack (ballsack) nonsense is about, I see you left a similar comment in my profile.

Care to explain? Or should I report you for trolling my profile as well?

That is in line with what Waga suggested. S-E merely said that Sony need to straighten up their marketiing and be fully focused into pressing it forward rather then changing every month.

Sony's clear marketing strategy is to promote Blu-ray and games. If they drive both these things through, they would have done what S-E requested.

I don't see how this is in line with what Waga suggested but I guess people see things differently. I took Waga's comments of: “Sony first unveiled the PS3 as a mighty home electronics product. Then, after some badgering from game companies, it shifted the position of the console closer to a game machine … (the future of the PS3) would be tough if its marketing strategy is not straightened up.”, to mean that he wants Sony to focus on the PS3 being a game console rather than a Blu-Ray player / videogame console / whatever.

Because Wada is talking about direction. He is referring to Sony wanting to bring out DVR's, add Tversity etc... all that are add ons from Blu-ray and games which should be the PS3 focus.

There is no possible way for Sony to not promote the Blu-ray player within the PS3 as it's the reason the damn console is so expensive. Sony have no choice but to promote and advertise it as a means of erxplaining why their console is so expensive. That is why Blu-ray and games must co-exist in marketing if the PS3 is to be successful on any kind of level. If Sony just focus on HD gaming then how will they explain the high cost of the machine? Consumers want an answer.

Kaz here is doing the right thing. He just needs Tretton and Reeves to follow suit and promote the same things and Sony will be following exactly what S-E have requested.

I did mention the blue-ray made the ps3 more expensive but lets say it didn't have a blue-ray player.  Is not like it would cost $200.  It would still have the same amount of games or basicalll alot less games then the 360 and to me that is what truly matters.  Even if the PS3 was $300-$400 is not like it would have had mgs4 or ff13 etc to all of sudden have huge sales hike over the 360 and Wii.  Obviously there is alot of assuming going around but in the end I think Blue-ray helped the ps3 because quite frankly in the past year it hasn't had the content to get people to buy it.  People pay good money for good content which is why the 360 got such a small price drop as they knew people just wanted a price drop but that the BIG games for this holiday would be enough to keep the price high enough and make some good money. Games=Money and both the Wii and 360 currently have it while the ps3 hopefully soon will.  I just don't see how duo marketing hurts SONY as all three systems usually market multiple things they have to offer like the 360 and xbox live or Nintendo and their first party games etc .

Hus has Pm'd me a lovely message clearing things up.

On Topic:

Hopefully Sony's new direction is more in the vein of what Square-Enix was suggesting but it will be time before we can be sure that's exactly what they wanted or if they'll be content with the results. I agree though that Kaz is the best hope for the PS3 right now.

I reported Hus for his behavior in this thread (and he has been so annoying in other threads too!).
