Forums - Sales - If the PS3 sells more units than the 360, does it win the console war?

I notice people say the Xbox beat the Gamecube simply because it sold about 2 million more units. However the Gamecube actually made money and moved a ton of Nintendo software. While the Xbox never made it out of the red. So in my opinion the Gamecube is hands down the winner.

So if the Playstation 3 somehow managed to outsell the 360 but never generates a profit, would you still consider it the winner?

Edit: Obviously I'm leaving out the Wii because it won the console in regards to sales and profits.

360 loses in profit but wins in sales.

ps3 loses in both...

Wii owns both.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Well MS is most likely going to walk out of this gen with profit. Sony on the other hand... is it best to cut their losses now?

NO! even if the PS3 outsold the 360. You said it yourself the Wii won in both sales and profit. So in order for them to win the console wars they should beat the Wii too.

You know, at this point this 'console war' between Sony and MS shouldn´t be given too much attention when it comes to simply playing your games...regardless of the systems switching positions back and forth, it seems they´ll keep getting about 85% of the same games.

I can see why it´s so interesting for PS3 and 360 fanboys, but for people with a more neutral stance, this 'war' is a farse.

If it sells more... it wins the HD market.

If someone could give me the profit/loss information on the Xbox 360, accurate to the 10's of millions I would probably give them $50 for it. Sadly thats unlikely to happen and using the EDD reports just makes a certain group of people cum in their pants, but it doesn't really enlighten us any.
