PS1.

| 1200p|is|FullHD said: Well I DO have a Wii, the fact that I also have a capable PC besides doesn't tear that down, I know what I'm speaking about. btw, I like my nick better than some colourless acronym. maybe I didn't make my point clear enough : It was how someone can say it's the MOST influental, when not even all developers are jumping the train, infact just a few. + many hardcore gamers ignore it too ( and after 2 years of dust collecting in my house me as long year nintendo supporter has to admit that it's for a good reason ). at this point of time, 2009, Wii is a toy for the masses, it's not like people say : hey let's play some games on my console, the Nintendo Wii, they say : let's play Wii. it's like : let's play monopoly, let's go bowling. |
So you don't think it is influential because you don't like it.
Video games are toys and I'm sure people say "let's play some Xbox" or "let's play on the pee es triple." So I don't get what you're saying.
And both monopoly and bowling are games... I'm not sure what you mean by that..
I think it was the PS1. PS1 set video game consoles on the path saying that they could do more then just play video games. They would become home staples of media entertainment.
Now consoles come with built in internet, can be used for exercise, play movies as well as games, music, etc. We shouldn't even call them video game consoles, they should be called entertainment hubs.
PS1 also expanded the market far beyond what Nintendo or Sega ever had done. Video Games had to be taken seriously within the entertainment industry since the PS1 arrived, this was only reinforced after PS2.

The NES, no contest whatsoever.
to put it another way
The NES was the Old TV where you got channels 2-9 and nothing else. It penetrated the market and created home entertainment as we know it. The SNES was color TV, N64 and PS1 was the large 36" CRT's, PS2 was early 480p LCD's, and Wii, 360, PS3 are modern HDtvs.
Although the later creations were much more advanced and offered much more, it is thanks to the original that we have what we have today.
Where the heck does PS1 come into this discussion? It was modeled after the SNES which was the successor to the NES.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
We wouldn't be able to talk about the Wii, PS1 or even the NES if it were not for the 2600.
