I have to say, despite the whole worldwide thing, I have a hard time believing that Gran Turismo will outsell games like Halo 3 and Mario Kart Wii.

I'm not a big sales follower, but this is a Playstation 3 exclusive game, and thus, its audience is limited. I've heard time and time again that XXX game will sell millions of hardware units, but it never does. Not all at once. GT fans have been buying the PS3 for a while now. I'd assume many of them already have the console. Sure, the game will be a system mover, but this game selling 10 million copies in 12 months would surprise me. It's not impossible, or improbable...but it would surprise me. Greatly. I'd assume Sony will eventually bundle it, which will help sales out a ton. Has Mario Kart Wii been bundled?

I mean, there is so much sales hype behind this golden cow, but the same supporters of this game, seemed to be less...excited...about Mario Kart Wii's sales potential.

I think some people probaby HOPE this game sells like crack, just because of the console its on. :P

 Yes VGC say that but that don't mean it's accurate.  It could be lower or higher.

The ignorance is hilarious, its been said in every GT thread plenty times yet most are to dense to get it.  GT3 successor was out before PS3 hit 60m, also GT3 launched on a 12m user base.

Prologue sold 3 million, the full game to sale double or less is crazy low.

Ohh look PS2 was at 4.4m in Japan, after a month GT3 sold 1.14m

I agree as good as Forza 2 is even though its just as good as GT5p it wont sell nearly as many as the PS3s demographic and the strong brand name for GT will make it far surpass forza. But both games are awesome

What mario kart wii its doing here!? its not even a racing simulator. actually no one here mentioned MK its not even on the thread title!.

or halo 3 that it's a FPS and GT5 have a chance to sell over 10 million LTD.

no one  said it will going to hit 10 million in 12 months but LIFETIME, and that it have a chance due its worldwide popularity its also one of the highest selling european games and a locals favorite but huge japan and popular in USA.

Viva Pinata, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Forza 2 were all bundled together. The lowest selling of the 3 is Viva Pinata at 1.45M sales. Since Viva Pinata 2 has sold 300k the highest number that the game could have been bundled is about 1M. Since Forza 2 is at 4M it probably sold 3M minimum. Assuming the sales are correct.

This gen is different than others....

With last gen you could base alot of predictions on the one before, but for this gen its so different than the gen before that basing anything on what happened is just silly

But i guess there are people out there that still believe that the PS3 will outsell the Wii..talk about having faith lol.  I guess anything can happen but basing predictions on last gen which was vastly different, will probably lead to massive prediction failures.

Also COD is more popular than GT now, and will become even more so if MW2 is good...
