Sin said it's real and he has been correct many times before. That will not be the final look of the Slim but it is coming, like it or lump it. Of course Sony will make it pretty but remember it will not end up being the size of PS2 Slim at least not yet.

People are kidding themselves if they think this will not increase sales, it is likely the reason why Sony predict an increase in PS3 sales. I also expect it to release at $300 and it to sell a lot......Sin again said something about September so..........

There were HD CRTs long before LCDs or Plasmas. Think about your first computer monitor (or maybe the second at least).

If the Slim is true, then that must mean that the 45nm Cell is finally in use.

It WILL be cheaper for SONY, way cheaper.
Cheaper Cell, less fans needed, less surface area of materials used and more units per shipment.
Probably something else i missed too.

It will jump the PS3 up to Wii-like sales.

If this is real, there is no guarantee it will increase sales dramatically. People aren't waiting for the PS3 to become cheaper or get more games. They're making decisions on what console they want and sticking with. Most are choosing the Wii first and the 360 2nd. A new design won't change that.

Price could be a factor, but not as much as some of you think. The PS3 at $299 is still not cheap. The 360 Arcade dropped $100 but sales didn't skyrocket. They improved, though. And that is still a price cheaper than $299. And MS and Nintendo ARE in a better position to cut prices than Sony due to Sony's losses as a company (which were released today if you didn't already know). PLUS there is still rumbles about a 360 redesign coming as well, even though they've been quiet for a number of months (and we all know MS can't keep too many secrets).

Be realistic about this, folks.

I hope it's not the real slim. It looks ugly ass compaired to the awesome that is the original ... And on another note it seems to be missing the large playstation 3 logo...

He didn't ask if it was fake.  He asked what would it do for sales if one was released.

just like i said in the news page, what in those pics suggests a slimmer model??? It looks identical to me.

This could be true. I don't see any other way they plan to increase sells by 30%.

A slim redesigned PS3 is inevitable but this seems a bit to early to be bringing out a slimline version - If this was 2 years in the futures then I'd regard those images as possibly real but this just seems to early.

A slimline would definetly reduce the price so I reckon PS3 sales would have a large jump but I'd only expect it to sell at 360 level or just above - Wii like sales seem unlikely as the Wii had captured the audience that the 360 and PS3 were never designed for.
