We had this discussion before, and I gathered weighted percentages from the top 25 sellers on both platforms, see my post here.

Then I guess so is Mass Effect and Crackdown.

you can't link by page number because people have different post/page settings. also, I'm too lazy to find your post.

If one does the math on the numbers in the OP (maybe one did, but I will not read the whole thread) then:
Xbox360: shooters/total software sold: 54%
PS3: shooters to total software sold: 42%
I considered Saints Row as shooter and included MSG4 to shooters as OP intended (but it's not imo).

That's exactly what I was saying, except that you calculated the sales of each genre relative to the total number of software sold, and I calculated them relative to the total number of hardware sold.

The shooterbox argument (if it can be called that) was fail to start with. Neither console is lacking in any Genre (except maybe the PS3 with jrpg's, but that'll be remedied soon). Honestly, it doesn't make any sense to label it the shooterbox. Seriously, what does that accomplish?
Good luck Kowenicki. The haters'll keep on hatin, trolls'll keep on trollin.
Also, if you're using VGChartz numbers, you should also use VGChartz genre's, to keep consistency.
looking at both consoles best selling games i say they are equally americanized consoles like first xbox:
almost half of each console Best 30 are shooters and action games(ps3 - 15 titles, x360 - 13 titles)
few sports titles(ps3 - 6, x360 - 3)
few casual and music games(ps3 - 3, x360 - 7)
couple rpgs(ps3 - 1, x360 - 5)
racers(ps3 - 4, x360 - 2)
also ps3 have one fighter.
now let's look at xboxs Best 30:
17 action games,
4 rpgs,
4 sports games,
4 racers,
1 fighting game,
so i guess both consoles have mostly the same audience as first xbox.

the primary focus of ratchet is definitely shooting, unlike the 2 you mentioned. you might be able to argue platforming for a couple older ones, but definitle not more recent ones.(i cant speak on psp titles as i havent played those ones, but i have all the others)
crackdown definitely has more platforming than ratchet...in fact i would even say Halo3 was as much a platformer as ratchet.

Notice how for the PS3, he decided that any game with guns in it was a shooter (before the edit), but he counted Dead Rising as an action game (despite a whole lot of guns in that game). Talk about a desperate thread. Also, you're not really proving anything by quoting exclusives.
See how Too Human is in the top selling 360 exclusives, despite selling way below expectations and being considered a flop by many people? The Wii is the only console with a considerable amount of exclusives, so lists like these are worthless. And for someone who owns a PS3, you seem to hate it and its userbase a lot.
Also, I don't get how you decided what an exclusive was. You left Singstar ABBA out of the list most likely because it was also on the PS2, but what about the 360? I bet at least half of those games are also on the PC. An ugly stereotype about the 360 that still ends up being so terribly true.
