I'm with you on the first four. Heavy Rain isn't going to sell well, anyway. It's a niche game, and it could do with a holiday boost. . The majority of gamers would strongly dislike Heavy Rain. Releasing it along with some other games isn't going to do anything; the holiday season is when people are in the mood to buy most. And Heavy Rain is unlike any PS3 game currently out; it's like saying Crack in Time will threaten FIFA 10's sales. Delaying it would hurt interest, cost money as the team is idle, and hurt sales. MAG in June 2010...hmm. I think this is another title which needs holiday rush. It's not the kind of game people massively anticipate, it's the kind of game you'd see in a store and think "hmm, cool" and possibly end up purchasing it. Nobody really cares about Resistance anymore. The first game was good, and people were hoping for a huge improvement in the sequel, but there wasn't one. Whether it's better or worse than Fall of Man is debatable. But it's not the AAA FPS a lot of people (like myself) were expecting it to be. Not that I dislike it, it's a solid 8/10, but a Resistance game isn't worth holding your breath for. mid-2010 would see EyePet (lolz), God of War III, Quantum Theory, Under Siege (maybe), FF13, , LA Noire, and a bunch of multiplats and unannounced games. The holiday season would have Resistance 3, MotorStorm 3, FF Versus XIII, the next Jak game, and Syphon Filter, I would think. And Team ICO's project which will blow away every PS3 game except God of War III released that year and perhaps ever! |
So true Resistance 2 was an absolutely terrible game. I am not going to start about Team ICO's but I assume people know just what I think of their games. I don't think I am going overboard in saying that GT5 alone would be more than enough for the Sony first/second party this year. What I can see is a price drop near the release of GT5 and then all the other first/second party Sony titles feeding off it.
GT5, Ratchet and Clank: ACIT, Uncharted 2, GOW III are all guaranteed million sellers and even though the franchise has gone down the shitter so is Resistance 3. If Versus remains exclusive it is going to be huge for holiday 2010, Sony will make sure SE know where JRPG sell best.
Surely one of the UK studios is making a retail game such as a new Wipeout, I shudder to think 250 people are needed to maintain HOME.
