Forums - Gaming - Games too easy/self-explanatory nowadays?

Frequent game saves is what makes games easier. Even if a particular section is hard, you can quickly retry it many times until you get lucky enough to pass it, even if your skills didn't improve much by doing it. In old games you would often have to retry long sections of the game, which made luck a smaller factor.

I thought it was the opposite: "luck" is generally helpful in the second example, while being able to quickly replay a part will enable you to plan carefully, because even if you are under pressure (e.g. games that constantly throw enemies at you) you might be able to try again without too much hassle. with limited saves, rolling a dice might decide whether you'll throw the controller at the TV or will keep on playing.

Play Ninja Gaiden Sigma on Master Ninja, then tell me that games are too easy nowadays.

THEN play Demon's Souls (from what I've heard) and tell me that Sigma is hard.

About tutorials:
I think those are great if integrated well but a few games exaggerate it. You get to a "tough" part of the game which needs some brain and probably some practice to get through and it tells you everything before you even see the puzzle or whatever yourself.
That's what I don't like.

Any guitar hero game on easy.

That's good for people who have never played a game like that before and/or aren't experienced gamers... I think that's the point of easy mode, and it's a good thing.

Depends on the "difficulty level"

Example... Resident Evil 5 on the easiest difficulty, is a breeze.
Play it on "Pro" difficulty, and you die in one hit.

A lot of games are too easy nowadays, but a lot of games also have difficulty settings.

hey you're a newbie yeah games are getting easier everytime

Pokemon games are also easy but fun.

Hmmm while I agree with you they seem to be easier, there's also the fact that we played those games in a series before (example GTA or Zelda) so we already know how they work but others new to the series don't.

I would find it boring if a game was very dumb down but at the same time I don't like stupidly hard games either... A happy medium or different difficulty levels are best, imo.
