Forums - Gaming - Why would anyone do bowling on a PS3 or 360 over the Wii?

oh come on graphics/physics would be the only reason. The wii has the better interface for this type of game geeez.

I disagree,  the way you hold the controller for the High Velocity Bowling, closely resembles how you would hold a real bowling ball.

Only big difference I find with HvB and Wiisports bowling is that if you want to give the ball rotation in WS you do a quick flick of the wrist in that direction while with HvB you need to hold down the R2 or L2 with the rotation speed dependant on how hard you hold down that button.

Still very easy since your fingers rest on those buttons anyways, but that is really the only big difference. How you actually throw the ball is pretty much the same exact thing.

Yeah, that was the only complaint I had with HVB.  With how you hold the controller, it would be easy to implement spin via twisting your wrist because it would twist along on of the axis.  But otherwise it was a great game

Why would anyone want to play bowling on a console ? :P

But seriously, as mentioned several times before, the PS3 has a pretty good sixaxis bowling game that should not be overlooked !

I could never understand the reasoning for the L2 and R2 though. You tilt the controller to position your character before throwing the ball but can't tilt your controller for rotation? *scratches head*

I am sure HvB2 if it ever comes out will correct it though.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Probably because the PS3 has HVB, which offers;

-A nearly identical control method
-Custom Sound Tracks
-Online play
-Tick shot mode
-Up to 4 players
-Better Graphics/ Physics

Of course everyone should still like real bowling more, but for birthday parties, and BBQ's it is nice to have some of these minigames. Most people don't have a bowling ally, or a golf range at their house to amuse guests.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Better Online + Better Graphics

This is the main reason. In my opinion.

Screw bowling on consoles. Screw real bowling at a bowling alley.

Silver Strike at your local dive for the win!

What you should have put is "Why would anyone do bowling on a console?" Geez just go to the bowling alley.

Ah man are you kidding? Why stay at home for your party and play bowling (which at most supports 4 players) when you can go out to a real bowling alley with all of your friends and have a huge fun party?

You never know, someone might accidentally throw one of the balls backwards and cause an uproar of laughter!

Good times!

EDIT: But damn the greasy hands!

go bowling in real life
