This seems to be just collection of all the obvious titles.

Probably the biggest thing against PS3...  they playe dall their cards already.  Despite that great line-up, I can't help but think their presentation will look inferior to their competitors (again), simply because it's "old news".

Hopefully they've got some great surprises, otherwise it will be a whole lot of bad PR again.

How any presentation displaying a large and promising line-up of future releases can be considered "inferior" is beyond my comprehension.

Yes, we've known quite a few details and even seen gameplay for many of those games on the list, so? Does that make them any less exciting or promising? I've known there's a game called "The Agency" since ages ago, I've seen pictures and trailers, but do I know a fuck about it? no. That applies to any of those games. I believe I know as much of God of War 3 as I know of MAG, which is mostly just developer/journalist talk.

The hell if they only show what's already known for months to be coming out. Does anyone really know anything concrete about Heavy Rain?

I say give me a strong showing of Heavy Rain, GT5, GOW3, U2, MAG, etc. and release dates, and I'll be a lot happier than if they were to "surprise me" with so-called "up sleeve aces" which from the time of their unveiling (a DEMO VIDEO), are nothing but smoke in the air, until they are hopefully released (very likely in the long unforeseeable future on the NEXT DECADE) and could very well turn out to be garbage (worst case scenario) in the end.

I wasn't saying it IS inferior... Just that, with all of this "old news", a handful of "POOF!!  We saved this for E3!!" announcements from Nintendo and Microsoft will overshadow their presentation.  Thus my use of the terms "will look" and "think".  The gaming press coverage is going to read "Sony: nothing new here...  OMGWTF!!  Nintendo announces motion controls!!!"

^Well, I believe the world hasn't seen the MEAT in God of War 3, and a strong showing of that title, regardless of being "old known" to the public, is more than enough to steal the word of mouth from journalists and gamers alike. And that's my sentiment with the many other games on the list. As much as we know of GT5, the truth is we know nothing, we just have this image of Prologue. If at E3 all they show (if anything) of GT5 is something "prologue-like", without exciting features, better physics, gameplay, polish, etc, then I'll grant it, yeah that was "old", but not if they do what they're expected to do at this stage.

An amazing presentation of a nearly-finised and polished showing of such games like God of War 3, Uncharted 2 or GT5 in all their awesomeness won't be overshadowed by some "video" of a new "ace game" (and understand what I'm saying, video here which is all you can expect from a new annoucement) .

So Uncharted 2 and Ratchet & Clank gameplay is old news? Of course they have more that they have not told us about, and we are already more excited about the line-up. They don't just have to win E3, they have to win the year...

Also, I thought Jak and Daxter the Lost Fronteir was confirmed?

Entirely possible that these will stand on their own merit... Not being excited for many of them outside of GoWIII, I just can't see it. Being a gamer, and being kind of "meh" over this line-up, the excitement of E3 is still in the favor of M$ and Nin for keeping everything so close to the chest and nurturing suspense. I see this list and I think "I wonder what the others are offering?" I don't think "Cool!! More info on the same games I've been hearing about all year!"

At last year's E3 they announced God of War 3 and MAG. I don't think MS or Nintendo announced any new games of that calibre, I remember Lips, Scene It 2 and Wii Music, that was it. Unless I'm forgetting something. So I don't see how their conference was inferior to the competition. Sony will have new games to show at E3, guaranteed.

Awesome list, i expect plenty more on PS3.

And i expect that list to grow to 6 times its size with the ammount of PSP games that will be shown also.

Missing the point, guys...  What was the perception put forward to the general public by the gaming media last year?

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/7/16/

Sony's show was seen as a failure, Wii's was seen as an elitist shrug off of the hardcore fan, and 360's as a bizarre shift in demographic steering.

Sony was the only one to really announce anything, but 90% of it was already known, and then they had the 3 second teaser for GoWIII, which was poo pooed for being "a forgone conclusion".

This year, they have a bunch of stuff, but some of it is years old now.  What do you think people will be talking about after the show?

"Did you see the new footage for the games that weren't new last E3?!?"

Or

"HOLY CRAP!!  Something new that I probably won't buy, but it's new!!"

It's all about marketing, and Sony has been horrible with it this generation.  If Sony hadn't said a word about any of those games, and then showed them all for the first time at E3, it would be heralded as the second coming.  Now, it will be "a bunch of stuff from last year; the expected tech demo of blah; such-and-such was playable (if you waited in line the whole show)".

^yeah, if penny arcade says it, then it was just like that... Look, let's just wait for E3 shall we... I'm getting the idea you won't be satisfied with any of the real real new new revelations made for the PS3 , though...................................................
