Its not M$ fault Square enix dosnt make a demo why are you blaming them? Besides its just a demo.

the demo is ready, FOR THE PS3, but they are delaying it until they get 360 version done , and they just started doing that... =(.

@cactus

well they said 6 months after japanese releases...and they are trying to cut that, so Q1-Q2 2010 america, Q3-Q4 europe.-

and yes the demo its 5gb!

A 5 GB demo? Thats bullshit. No Demo should be that large and after Sony's recent conference on Gamespot.com, Gamespot employees played the Japanese demo. Trust me....they can pump out a demo....SE are just bullshitting.

No, he's right. The demo takes up 5.9 GB of space. Just 1 hour of gameplay.

I highly doubt the demo will be an hour long. 1 hour is long enough to get to know the character before the full game, which is spoiling the game. Demos are only to be used to see if the consumer likes the gameplay and concept of the title enough to buy it.

Well, it took me about 1 hour and 5 minutes to beat the demo my first time through.

Second time it took me less than 45 minutes.

1 hour into a game isn't a demonstration, it's a minigame. If Bioware gave me an hour of Mass Effect 2 to play before the full game came I wouldn't play it.

Well being that Mass Effect 2 is going to play the same way as Mass Effect, then I wouldn't care either.

The goal of this demo was give a taste of the very new, innovative battle system. It succeeded.

Who told you that ME2 was going to play the same as ME? The devs said the battle system has far more depth as pertaining to the second act of the story and it will only get better. Plus, they took criticism and tips from the fans as to what to put into the battle system. I don't think you fully understand what ME2 is going to be. I've seen the Japanese demo of FFXIII and it is boring compared, even though I'm still getting the game. FFXIII is the last chance I'm giving to JRPG's, when I really should've spent my money buying Fallout 3 instead of pre-ordering FFXIII.

Far more depth isn't a large change or innovation, just an improvement. An expansion of the foundation already created.

There is a large difference between the combat of FF12 and FF13.

What difference is there between the battle system in 12 and 13? I really don't see any. You can still roam while in a fight, and attack in the same manner. Versus is the game which will have the different battle system, which is the only reason I purchased the PS3 version of FFXIII.

ugh *facepalm*.

not its not the same. mp system is gone, we have now overclocking and the bar can let you do more than one attack per gauge charge and many other improvements changes.

no final fantasy even have the same battle system.

Thats not enough to even be considered noticable. When 12 used the free roaming battle system with the gambits that was a huge overhaul, but the game still sucked. Taking MP away from the 12 battle system isn't much. Let me show you what I mean.

the NA version will probably come out with the europe version, meaning that i'll have to wait more than a year. and for final fantasy versus, i think they should just forget about it.

Both of these things are not true.

@ Outlawauron- How so? Explain the battle system of 13 completely to me, because I see no major difference.

Not a big surprise, the demo was released in Japan because is exclusive there but releasing it in NA or EU without the 360 version would be giving a preference to the PS3.

Marvel vs Capcom 2

We are talking about SE, not Capcom.

But if you think about it, that does NOT make sense, SO4 being exclusive and The Last Remnant being timed exclusive to the X360 makes sense because MS probably paid for those (between many other PS3 fans rants), but why make the demo of Marvel vs Capcom 2 exclusive of the PS3? Unless Sony paid for it (which i doubt), i don't see what Capcom wins with this.

Nobody wins with that demo. It's local multiplayer match only. You can't even play a quick match against the computer. They give you the options to click on online multiplayer only for it to show you a screen to cocktease you. They couldn't even bother to shade it out so you couldn't select it. There'll be a real demo come release day.

Wow, i didn't even know that. I'll just pretend that he didn't give it as example, unless he's so proud of it that he desn't mind.

I was using it as an example.....

You were talking about how releasing a demo, PS3 only, would show preference to the PS3, yet it just happened with MvC2

Damn Square Enix for releasing the Marvel vs Capcom demo for only 360.

what part of "example" don't you get?

Capcom probably isn't even allowed to put out an early demo on XBLA, a platform where pre-release demos never occur.  If you honestly think that a sub-200MB demo on a downloadable game service for a port of a nine-year-old arcade game is a comparable "example" to a demo of FFXIII, then you are likely flat-out insane.

2010?? OMG this is getting soooo long in the tooth. Hype, hype, hype game comes out nobody cares..

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

That sure is a lot of criteria to try and sway the argument to your side. All I said was that you guys were talking about releasing a demo on platform is "unfair" and this one just came up. I don't care about all your ridiculous criteria. A demo was released on for PS3 and not 360 recently, so the "we want to be fair to both sides" is moot....especially coming from SE who've done nothing but release 360 exclusives so far.

Back on topic:

This news just popped up on Joystiq, and some posters basically summed up my sentiments on this subject:

Vidikron:

""Unfair" is a bullshit excuse. I'm sure most PS3 users would view it as "unfair" that they have to wait for the 360 version when they could have the demo, and the game, much sooner. So either way one group is potentially going to view it as unfair. At least by packaging a demo with the movie you can increase your movie sales in the US. 360-only owners are going to have to wait either way."

and atrimus:

"why does it seem that when companies talk about multiplatform and fairness, the PS3 is the one getting the shaft? DMC4, FFXIII, Tekken 6, they're all from companies who preach multiplatform and fairness to bitter PS3 owners, yet do an about-face when it comes to Lost Planet 2, Star Ocean IV and Ace Combat. if a PS3 Blu-ray demo of FFXIII can be done in the US, then do it. it's better to screw just one audience than to screw two."

and noshino:

"Square's support towards PS3 owners has been awful this generation.

Its great that they don't want 360 owners to get the short end of the stick

But what about the PS3 owners? where were they when they promised PS3 owners the exclusivity of FF13? or when they promised that TLR would be released simultaneously worldwide?

What about PS3 owners getting the short end of the stick now that FF13 is multiplatform? is it really fair to have to wait until the other version is finished?

If you want to be fair, be fair to everyone, not just a selected group, otherwise its freaking pointless, and as a matter of fact, makes you look rather bad."
