The Xbox 360 has been out one year before the Playstation 3, that is why it has currently sold more than twice the amount of the Playstation 3. I do not know if the Xbox 360 is still outselling the Playstation 3, monthly, but if it is, it is going to take a lot longer than a few months for there to be a 3:1 ratio, or more, on sales. The gap, however, should increase a bit more between the beginning of September, and the end of December, but not by too much.

He's talking about monthly sales, not overall. The 360 is outselling the PS3 on a month-to-month basis of nearly 2:1, and the most recent months/weeks have all exceeded the 2:1 ratio. Considering the lineups, I imagine the gap will be near 3:1 for Sept/Oct, and likely continue that way through the holidays. That's a lot of ground for Sony to make up.
Not that that's really something to brag about for MS, since Nintendo is whooping them on the same scale...
