I wouldn't buy it though... I beat it in 5 hours, 16 minutes. :(

Oh, and for the OP: I think next week the 360 will start outselling the PS3 3:1 and it will carry until November when the holidays start and PS3 sales pick up a bit.

Halo will push the 360 far beyond 3:1 over the PS3 at least for a few weeks, maybe even as much as 4:1. The US loves Halo.

Possibly in September thanks to Halo 3, assuming the 40 GB ps3 turns out to be fake. However, if the 40 GB does come out Halo 3 launch weak, I could see it staying the same way it is now, and then sales roughly equaling out the rest of the year.

 You saw the NPD last week, you know it wasn't doing 50k a week, it was about 35k a week.  You know ioi will have adjusted his numbers downwards this week to around 35-40k and a slight increase in 360 numbers to about 90-95k would follow his almost 3:1 numbers.

Yes I think it will in September easy.

But if the 360 doesn't outsell the PS3 more than 4:1 by 1/1/2008. Then the PS3 has a chance.

You know, as much as there is a bit of poetic justice for Sony struggling given the arrogance at launch, they HAVE to make it. The PS3 needs to survive and survive well. In much the same way, so does the 360. If either console were to pull out there would be no reason for price cuts and no reason for innovation. If Microsoft wins the console wars outright, I imagine it being just like the PC Windows issue... Absolute and total control. Right now they have to help 3rd parties out in every way possible because they have to remain competitive. Sony has to remain price competitive even though their hardware is more expensive to produce. In the end, it all works out to:

Consumers Win. Great games, constant push for more innovative titles, and constantly dropping prices... It's all good...

On topic: I think a 3:1 is all but certain around the Halo 3 launch...

Absolutely. Unfortunately, fanboys rarely think with such clarity. The best thing for gamers would be a 33% split between the consoles. That ain't gonna happen so while I secretly enjoy watching Sony get slapped around a bit, I definitely do not want to see them fail. That's just bad for the market.
