Forums - Nintendo - I just don't get it. Why won't Nintendo make another FPS for the Wii?

What's the name of that game that was packed in with the Zapper? Didn't it have some FPS levels in it?

What was it called? It's name escapes me.

Was that game made by Nintendo? Hmmm.

WHo cares? The conduit is coming soon,COD:Modern Warfare2 and Red Steel 2 plus Metroid prime 1 & 2.Isn't that enough 4 now?If the conduit is succesful(I'm sure it will be),we'll see more.In fact,I hope it somehow manages 2 be game of the year or at least the runner up.That would really help.Though I think Uncharted or COD or even Scribblenauts would win it.LOL!

OK. Let me make this simple, for everyone wondering "Why does Nintendo not do this?" or "Why doesn't Nintendo do that?".

Let me ask you another question, is your question based on something everyone else is doing? If so then you may have just answered your own question. So let me ask you another question.

Why would Nintendo do what everyone else is doing? I'm not saying they wouldn't pursue that sometimes, but is it fair to expect that constantly? The answer to that is maybe, for a while.

Realistically though, it's not Nintendo's way of doing things. Why? Because almost every time they approach business this way, they end up losing something. Be that market share, customers or profit. On the other side of the coin almost every time they try to differentiate, they gain something. So which one do you think works best?

I'd say differentiation. And guess what? They have figured that out as well, so why not you?

Rather than asking them to emulate something that already exists every damn turn, and every damn second, why not wonder what they could do that nobody else is doing? If you're eager to speculate, that approach may leave you with not only more food for thought, but less disappointment over what Nintendo does announce. Odds are you'll probably begin to appreciate the little differences they put so much attention on, but that as of now get very overlooked by the enthusiasts that like to run their mouths so damn much.

The first time I saw your avatar, I laughed and I thought to myself, "How silly a dog can't teach! Dogs are dumb." Then I read this post and I must say I now see how prejudice I have been. Dogs are just as smart as humans.

Brain (Fam Guy) & Brain (Insptr Ggt) have made many advances for your species.

You were kind of harsh though but that's a Bull Dog for you.

That's because I'm mentally challenged.

Nintendo never releases "games from the lot" they make original games, or just added new elements for turn them into jewels.

I wonder the same thing. They have qualified people to do it (NST and Retro Studios) and close relationship with some FPS makers (ex-personel from Free Radical). Nintendo should expand their audience and bring new FPS's would be nice.

You should ask yourself one question first:

What would Nintendo gain by producing FPS games?

They would gain PS3 and Sony fan base is what! They wouldn't want to play Resistence or Halo or Gears anymore if they could throw banana peels and turtle shell at their enemies! Does Halo allow you to do that? NO! Just Bullet or Lasers!

The PS360's will be very refreshed NOT to have blood and gore in their games and to be able to run around in colorful environments too! They are sick of gray, dirty worlds without Rainbows and Sparkles!

Aren't they?

(Actually, I would by the game).

So you answered my question.  Nintendo would gain a userbase of a small elite and outspoken gamers.

So with that answer, what would the lose by using their development studios to produce these games?

I was kind on joking but I would play the game.

The problem is that I don't think that it would broaden their audience though. The game could be top in FPS but I thinkmost of the "Core" FPS fans would never play it because it would be Mario and not some BUFF-guy/ or HOT-girl.

I also think that the fans that do support the N, would not buy this game. So they would lose money, even if they did it right- they would lose.

But I still want to play the game.

The game packed in with the wii zapper is Link's Crossbow Training.I can't believe I forgot 2 mention Ghostbusters as a 'coming soon' FPS on the wii(it's multiplat, not exclusive).CHYUII,it occured 2 me that the nintendo-FPS you described might outsell any other & even make girls/peeps that don't like FPSes(yes, they exist, ther's an abundance of them in my country) start playing FPSes.Imagine a FPS with toon-elements like Smash Bros and Mario Kart that make for the type of addictive, family or hardcore fun that only nintendo can do.The online multiplayer would be too sick!

Yes, the lack of nintendo published FPS games on the Wii is totally to do with the expanded audience
