Forgive them? The way you say that makes it seem like they are doing something wrong. Are video games not allowed to target young, female audiences? Personally, I applaud them for continuing a series that does good job of servicing an under-appreciated segment of the market. Not every game needs to be another generic FPS/sport/Platformer

Sister was very happy when showed her the video, sequel to one of her favourite games. Though she didn't like the boy cheerleaders and said the graphics looked worse. Tough target audience!
