Forums - Nintendo - Capcom tells why no Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 on wii

I have a feeling that even if there were no such limit/limitations that Capcom would not be doing this on the Wii.

First, it does not really care for the Wii and seems to have titles on the PS3/Xbox 360 that sell. In other words, they appear one of the few developers that consistently can make money off of going for the HD consoles. Street Fighter and Resident Evil sequels let you do that.

Second, if it can figure a way to release TvC (or some variant thereof) in other markets, it does not want to do something that cannibalizes potential future sales.

Hmm aren't you exagerating ?

Capcom seems to have one of the biggest libraries of non shovelware for Wii imho.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is 128MB. I'd post verification but I don't want to support piracy.

cool I was just guessing based on what systems it had been out on. 128MB is still rather large considering it would be 1/4th of the internal storage on the system.

With use of a standard 1 gig SD card, it would be like Madden on the PS2, taking up 1/8 of thememory card.

I think Capcom has a valid reason though. I just don't see why 40MB is still the limit, especially now.

I may be wrong, but before a game launches doesn't it copy itself off the SD card first on to internal memory? So even if you have 100MB game on your SD card, it has to have 100MB free on the Wii itself.

Yes, it transfers the data over before you can start.

That's a decent reason. Can't hate them for that.

Your not a purist, they really are better off on Arcades.

Sweet, I always knew I was impure

despite Capcom shortchanging the Wii multiple times, they still have supported the system fairly well. In fact, I just checked their press site and Resident Evil 3 is listed as a Wii game. No information provided, but it looks like they are remaking their entire back catalog of Resident Evil games.

So it looks like capcom has given us

2 new RE light gun shooters Low budget projects outsourced to Cavia aka the creators of Bullet Witch
Spyborgs - which looks like a very good effort put in even if I'm not interested I agree, Bionic games does seem to be putting a lot into this game.
Entire remake of Resident Evil series (4 out, 1 out soon, 0 out in japan and coming to US, and 3 is listed on their press site) I wouldn't call straight ports with new controls great support.
Zack & Wiki Unique game, internally developed, takes advantage of the Wii mote. A rare original release from Capcom.
Monster Hunter 3 The only major franchise release on Wii from Capcom.

plus more, so they actually haven't been too shabby in the Wii support department.

Pretty much sums up my feelings on Capcoms Wii support.

I don't see the problem, their reasons are perfectly valid...

I'm pretty damn sure that a 8 gig SD card could hold MvC2 as 8 gigs was the cap for DvD's, the thing is that Capcom may not want MvC2 on a SD card. V_V

Honestly I'd love a DS MvC2 ~ Make it happen Iwata, make it happen!

Haha, the DS certainly has the button layout for it and DS cards hold more than enough data. 2Gb (256MB) last I heard although I hear that 4Gb (512MB) cards can be ordered as well.

It would be cool if you could do that, then use the DSi functions to take pictures and collage them to make back grounds while fighting. O_O

I wonder how this game could work online in Wii.
