Forums - Nintendo - Parents reactions to the Wii Zapper

I'll prolly get both an official Wii Zapper and that one with the reviews for the 3rd party one arn't bad... possibly 2 of the one that works better as i've got some shooter friends. Likely not more then that however as I don't have a huge TV screen so a split screen 4 player co-op (whenever the wii gets one) would be brutal. Although 4 player co-ops are probably all online based only anyway.

PS3 needs an 8 player online Co-op. Or really anyone needs an 8 player online co-op vs mode... or really just bots. I don't undertstand why all shooters don't have bots in their multiplayer modes to even out teams when people disconnect/quit... but that's a whole nother rant.

I thought the Wii Zapper was gonna be used for games rated MATURE. The parents DON'T HAVE to buy it. I'd rather play with just the remote and nunchuck anyways.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

haha what a joke I bet when they were kids they played laser tag, cowboys and indians., with the NES zapper, with playstation light gun with arcade light guns etc...

this is good news in the sense that it raises awareness for all those M-rated games out there. obviously, parents don't know what kind of games kids play if they've never tried out video games. the wii zapper is obviously not M rated, but it gives parents a taste.

but if parents are more knowledgeable about games, then guys like jack thompson wouldn't be able to garner so much momentum. the sensational distribes that thompson relies on is built on public's outrage, but if the public is actually informed, they will fade into the background as it becomes mere rambling.

that being said, the effect i believe is negligible. responsible parents will always be responsible and irresponsible parents will always be irresponsible, conservative ones will stay that way as will liberal ones. something like the Wii zapper isn't gonna change their behavior one iota.

the Wii is an epidemic.

Well, I didn't say I didn't want a Zapper....but any parent who buys a Wii should probably already know that the Wii remote is basically a light gun...so, official, real looking light gun or not, their kids would still be aiming and shooting guns at imaginary people, so I don't see why everyones panties are in a bunch over what is basically a very vagely gun-shaped piece of plastic that the existing controller fits into.

Parents should spend more time with kids rather than frivolous lawsuits.

Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>

Good thing the PS3 doesn't have a light gun.

It does...or are you being sarcastic?

Not that many games will use it, so who cares.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Well it is called a "GunCon"...

It comes with Time Crisis 4 for PS3...

It uses 2 lights that you put above your TV, like the Wii's IR sensor.

What I'm curious about is that Time Crisis 4 generally has no aiming reticle, you just aim down the sights and shoot. And previews have said that generally works. They should take the reticle off some Wii games...I'd like to try free aiming and see how good I do...it might even be fun as it feels more realistic.
