First off, the R&C games are not platformers, but action games. Second, SMG is a better game than any R&C ever made.

Haven't played R&C, so I can't say. I'll judge by critics, instead. R&C has 89 on Metacritic and SMG has 97 on Metacritic. Now, Metacritic is naturally not a measure of quality. But it does, however, show that a lot of people prefer SMG before R&C.

That's an entirely wrong way to consider games... the "feature matrix" approach is - maybe - good for cheap mp3 players, but it fails horribly when subtle design comes to matter.
SMG has exceedingly great levels and gameplay, based on small variations around a very simple formula.
It's about what it does right, not about simply what it does.
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal is my favourite platformer of all time. However, I preferred LBP to Tools of Destruction, only because it had MULTIPLAYER!
Hopefully A Crack In Time has the co-op and competitive that Deadlocked had, with the awesome single player of Up Your Arsenal, Going Commando, and Tools of Destruction.
Platformer ???
The R&C games are third person shooters. I don't understand how anyone could possibly consider them platformers.
I do agree that they are seriously underrated games. I think the Crash Bandicoot and (especially) the Jak & Daxter games have hurt R&C sales. People tend to think R&C is the same type of game.
I made that mistake myself. I didn't get into the series until R&C 3. I had played the first Jak & Daxter and found it to be absolute garbage, and for a long time I thought R&C was the same type of game. That was a huge mistake. I ended up buying a PS3 mainly for Ratchet & Clank ToD. The games are that good.
R&C games are action/adventure/platforming.
I agree ratchet and clank is amazing. Like I said in a topic recently, TOD is one of the best platforming games I have ever played.
