Forums - Sales - HD War, Lets call it! N. America and Japan.

What surprise me most is how hard both Sony and M$ is trying to accomplish in both region. Sony believe they need more FPS and M$ believe they need more JRpg. At the end it seem that Sony did alot better with the FPS then M$ with JRpg. I just hope M$ just don't quit releasing JRpgs because of their sales from it.

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Pretty much pointless thread.
Nobody knows how many PS3 will be sold, when it get 299$ price,
neither, will 199$ or 249$ x360 Pro model have any Big effect.

p.s. And you will never know, how PS3 would be doing today in NA, if KZ2 and R2 woudn`t be there released. After all, it`s most expensive console on the market during economical recession.

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Hey skee, near the end of the first disc I think... so not that far yet.  This game is very polished, has good voice acting, nice look, nice pace.  I even like reading the dream sequences.  I will stick with this until the bitter end of disc 4.....  could be a long haul.  7 hours so far, although I am taking my time.  This is the first time since FF7 that I am enjoying a turn based JRPG.

should take you 30hours+ to get to the final grand staff.

I don't see PS3 coming back against 360 in US. The 360 and Live is too entrenched now. The only way I see PS3 having any chance is to gain momentum outside the core shooter market - i.e. to start competing with the Wii rather than the 360, and that seems really unlikely right now as it is tagged as the 'other HD console' and is too expensive.

Japan also looks over from an HD perspective. Even with huge backing 360 has only gone from dead to limping along (a big improvement, but not enough to change anything drastically). PS3 spikes show it has enough titles/impetus to easily hold of 360 and FF/GT should push the console way out of reach - essentially the opposite of US. MS could continue to fight for exclusive content but I think it will find it harder and harder to gain as most developers will surely go multiplatform.

Others could go either way although if I had to guess I think that FF, GT and God of War, plus versions of Jak and Daxter, etc. will be enough to give the PS3 a small lead in Others when all is said and done.

Wii will be number 1 unless things cave in massively - which despite recent dip in Japan seems unlikley.

Still, it should be interesting when the PS3 price cut hits.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Considering the point he is up to how is he supposed to know he will be going to another Grand Staff later on?

I actually agree on this one ;) In the HD war Sony won Japan ( especially FFXIII beeing exclusive in that region ) and MS won the US. The gap in the US is way to big at this point and in best case I could see Sony shrinking MSs lead by ~ 2 million lt but I wouldent bet on that...

Others... well Im confident that because GT5, a pricecut and mainland Europe still being mostly Playstation oriented ( when comparing to the Xbox ) Sony will pull ahead of MS with a pretty nice margin especially when it will come down to lt software sales, and maybe even 5 million + hardware lead when its all said and done... but even this combined lead wont help to pass Microsofts NA lead and IMO it will probably be a virtual tie... mybe some lead from MS but the two region lead for Sony will help it equel the sittuation when it comes to software sales...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Don't underestimate the GT5 in Europe. That game will push alot of hardware in the region. IMHO, by the end of 2010 the PS3 will have a 2 to 3 million lead over the 360 in Europe/Other
