Edit* Wow looks like PS3 is already down to 20k in Japan judging by the preview, so it could fall to as low as 15k~

Its drastically falling in the US so it can easily go below 40k there.

Well Golden Week is coming up soon here in Japan, so that should help the PS3 out a bit (all handhelds/consoles probably) for a little bit at least.

You know the Wii is a phenomenal success when folks have to combine HD console sales in order to claim some sort of "victory" over it... The only consolation prize they can hope for with the Wii trashing the HD Twins is seeing it struggle to get to 50% market share.

The more I see how this generation goes, the more I think only the DS is "this gen´s PS2" (even though it´s a handheld)...the 3 home systems can´t claim that.
