That'd be hilarious if true. 
That is very shitty luck, though I found a thread on GameSpot with people having the same problem. Try plugging your controller in while doing it.

Your controller isn't broken. I remember losing motion sensing in motorstorm once. Try turning it off and turning it back on. That wheel was a pain in the a** when I played too so remember that patience is a virtue lol.

looks like you didn't fancy the game either. This game looks like it was made specially for me. I'm seriously addicted to it.

Turned PS3 off, back on, worked.
If that fucking controller hadn't worked, too late in the day to take it back to the shop, I would have said something that would have led to a permaban.

I am fairly aware of some games coming for this console, the ones that made me buy it. God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Versus, and my Killzone 2 bet with Makingmusic.
I like shooters with good single player campaigns, RPG's and good adventure games. I know what's already out there, tell me about what's coming.

You should look out for the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia, it will have a lot more content than the 360 version. http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=67047&page=1
There is also a new Ratchet & Clank coming, along with Uncharted 2, and Demon's Souls along with White Knight Chronicles are destined for western releases. Eurogamer gave Demon's Souls a 9/10 (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/demons-souls-review) and the asian version has full english support, so you can import if you like.
EDIT: And I forgot to mention (and even though it is already released, I have to make sure you get it) Flower. Go buy it, no matter how unmanly the game's name might make you feel.
EDITEDIT: And you should look into Trine. It releases on PC also, but playing coop with your buddies should be done in a couch with a controller each

I am currently slogging my way through Demon's Souls, and while the combat mechanics, animations, and atmosphere are great, it is BRUTALLY tough. This game is not for the faint of heart.
And I must echo Rainbird's sentiments on Flower. If there is any PSN title you should get, it's that one. I don't care what genres you like, what genres you hate, or any of that. You will like Flower. Its beauty transcends the medium.
