Could GfK start tracking sales in Poland this year? It sounds like it in this article about Killzone 2's Polish sales through Google translate, but maybe one of our Polish members could confirm?

Googling for more details brought up what seems like a position tracking sales in the computer and video game sector was open at GfK Polonia late last year.

Also late last year SPiDOR the Polish interactive software association was formed, so maybe they've commisioned GfK to track sales in Poland. Hopefully we might get some Polish charts from them at some time in the future.

http://www.spidor.pl/

Ill translate it, they are trying to rip VG Chartz, ignorants:

"There is no company in Poland that is tracking the industry, no one has looked at software sales. This year GFK Polonia will start tracking it, United States have regular NPD numbers, which however do not take into consideration online sales. With Europe , which is a colaboration of markets its much harder to measure anything in a global scale, especially since companies do not like to share their information. There is this worthless rubbish called VGchartz, where are some sort of estimation there about Nintendo, EA and Activision, website does have some sort of information but they are not even close to reality. You have to know that tracking like the one that  GFK does costs money, and if no ones does it its much easier to used shipped numbers, not sold to retailers. Also sometimes this helps to appear succesful, latest Sony news is a good example how PR really works"

The last bit is about KZ2 numbers in Poland, which Sony released. That website really has no credibility, they do not seem to even know how does VGchartz operate. Polish gaming websites are really poor

Interesting. When it's supposed to rise again?

Good question, unfortunately I only have full year weekly data from 2008, but this week is the lowest of any week in my records going back to mid-2007. The lowest in 2008 was 910k, and in my partial records for 2007 was  890k. 2006 is missing weeks 17 - 20 though. Last year had the release of GTAIV in week 18, so it's really not a good comparison to this year.

This week could just be an anomaly and sales might bounce back next week. With this week's low number 2009 is now marginally behind 2008's record year; 22.52m units Vs 22.76m units.

If we look at quarterly sales, then Q2 is generally the lowest quarter of the year, far below Q1, with sales then recovering a bit for Q3 before exploding in Q4.
