^don't get angry now thesource. Just a question : why do you wait for other tracking companies to post their numbers before posting yours? Do you actually track Japan sales? colour me skeptic. Nice work on the preview though. Your math was right on , but you lacked a little common sense and some more research work I think.
Wow.

What?! The preview is based on early numbers he gets from one retailer.

No one ever claimed Wii would

a) be saved in Japan. You can't be saved when your 5m ahead

b) get a long term boost from these titles

You think you are over-reacting much?

Second, Deca Sports 2 wasn't just my expectation as a big title. Hudson shipped 80,000 copies the first week. With those figures you have to figure Nintendo and Hudson both expected at least a bit of a bump. Finally, Monster Hunter G did boost sales for Wii this week. I'll give you Muramasa - that should never have been pitched as a boost. But the other two titles were sound expectations.

Alot of you were ready to massacre me for calling for a 40k PS3 drop this week, even though thats exactly what happened. If your going to knock me for missing Wii by 5k, at least recognize I got the harder prediction, the scale of the PS3 drop - correct.

Don't you belive there's something wrong about early numbers when they tend to show same type of mistake multiple weeks over recent months ?

Basically those early numbers have been good each time the market behaved as expected ( expecting a huge PS3 drop wasn't really far-fetched, that's the way it has behaved in the past after a release that gave hardware a huge boost).

However each time the market behaved differently than expected ( Deca 2 failing, MHG giving rl low hardware boost) the preview has been dead wrong. It makes you wonder how much of the preview is based on real data and how much is on predicting how the market will behave.

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

So.. can we expect, that Golden week will equally increase PS3 and Wii sales, with PS3 still outselling Wii?

For last 9 weeks PS3 was more popular, than Wii, why this trend can`t continue? =)

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

I think you can expect Golden week to be terrible for both systems with sales bellow 35k for both...

Heavy software hitters for the PS3 were released too long ago and MHG has failed to give the Wii the huge boost that was expected...

I sense damage control from Wii fans on this thread.

Ail could you point me in the direction of the articles that predicted Brawl level sales for Monster Hunter G? I’m just wondering where they are and I’ve spent about 10 minutes googleing anything dealing with such an article.

No one is saying anything that they didn't say before the numbers came in, only reiterating what was already said.
