Wait, nvm, I thought Hero time said 300k first week not LTD.

In that case End of Eternity will. ToV could. Bayonetta probably not since Platinum Games/Clover aren't that popular...

 DMC 1 sold 650k though.

That might as well have been a lifetime ago with how much the Japanese market has changed from then to now.

I love Platnium/Clover but I don't think they're going to have a ton of luck with Bayonetta (much like MadWorld).

I would suspect

Wii Sports Resort (3 million+)

Final Fantasy XIII (2.5 million)

Monster Hunter 3 (800k)

Wii Fit Plus (3 million+)

Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers (400-500k)

P ikmin 3 (600k)

Gran Turismo 5 (900k)

Would be my picks for games that can actually come out this year and have any real impact on hardware sales. A game that sells 300k LTD is not creating any type of real long term momentum for a platform.

Everything else is gravy.

Something like Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics is likely to outsell Bayonetta, Vesperia, etc. easily.

I believe GT5 will break 1mill in Japan lifetime

Maybe, but seeing as how GT4 barely got past 1 million in Japan on the PS2.

I don't really think 900k versus 1.1 million makes any real tangible difference to a platform's overall performance anyway.

Depends on what you consider big...

End of Eternity, Bayonetta, Tales of Vesperia are all likely 300k+ title's in Japan which should move some hardware.

Isn't Vesperia a port of a 360 game that was bundled with the 360 last year?

Namco is releasing a new Tales game this year, but it's Tales of Graces for the Wii, not PS3.

Yes, Vesperia is a port of the 360 game that sold 170k. And no, Namco really is releasing Vesperia on the PS3 this year.

@ Soriku

But the main developer made DMC, so he's the go to guy for this.

DMC 4 sold over 380k in Japan.

@soundwave

The ps2 was 29,900 yen at launch

Wrong, it was 39,800 yen.

Face it the PS3 will never sell anywhere close to the PS2 in Japan.

I never said it was

True. Plus they don't seem to have the "Clover curse" X_X

Also, GT5 can pull off 1 mil in Japan. GT5P sold 670k...

It was 200k or 300k before bundling, I can't really remember.

It sold 300k before bundling. However, many also picked up the game because they released "The Best" version of GT5P at a budget price. So, while the bundles helped, many bought just the game.

I'm sure it sold in the realm of Metal Gear Solid 4 because the Japanese market just thought it was a compelling game. More realistically, bundles bundles bundles.

92 k is very good for old port

I thought DMC4 sold 312K (according to this site)

And we are expecting Bayonetta to sell almost as many units as DMC4? I'm not saying it's impossible but unlikely...

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Well, the bundle released on October 30th. (same day as LBP bundle and GTA4) The game sold 33k that week and HW was 38k. Obviously most bought the game for itself rather than the bundle.

I'm not saying it didn't help a lot, it did, but it would have sold 500k regardless.
