yes. if nintendo waits to long to release something hardcore then its gonna die, the phenomena isn't so astounding anymore. if the ps3 takes over in japan, america will fall next. then europe. (weird order but ull c) (and thats only if it starts taking over in japan with no releases)

can you define what that means? Do you mean outselling Wii slightly every month? or outselling Wii more than 2:1 monthly? or outselling Wii this year with more than 2:1 ratio?

On Topic:

I agree with misterd on his points. Sold out for 3 Christmas without price cut is unexpected for anyone and i's bound to slow down sometime. Now it's recharged for round 2 and we'll see if it can pick up steam again.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Nintendo took time off from releasing first-party software because (a) it got a lot out early in the system's life cycle; (b) because it was waiting for third-parties to release some games; and it has been waiting for WM+.

It is doomed in the minds of those who never believed in it. But that has never changed.

And if it truly doomed -- than the industry is doomed.

Not really.

Punch Out, EA Active, Guitar Hero, Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus are enough to kick Wii up again from May on in the west.

PS3 outselling Wii 4:1 in Japan looks like a one week thing. When PS3 jumped to 77k on MGS4 in June 2008 it fell to 23k the next week, so its not unreasonable to expect PS3 back to 20k-25k in Japan next week, while Wii can jump to 30k-35k if Monster Hunter G tops 100,000. For the year, Wii:PS3 will be under 2:1 I imagine, but that is unlikely to happen in the western markets because the Xbox 360 takes half the PS3 market. In Japan, it takes maybe 1/4 of it which is why PS3 has had spikes above Wii in Japan fairly frequently but rarely in the west.

Yeeah... What he said. The Wii had a temporary game drought, starting when Animal Crossing and Wii Music didn't sell as well as Ninty had hoped, and it only really ends with Monster Hunter G.

The PS3 on the other hand had a lot of high profile releases, SF4, Yakuza, RE5. and FF7:AC bundle. It is all downhill for the PS3 for a long time (until FFXIII) while the Wii has an awesome lineup

This thread is created for discussion purposes only not to incite flamebait I own a Nintendo Wii for crying out loud. With the Japan results showing the ps3 at 4x the sales of the Wii which in all honesty I never thought was possible. The wii in the past has been selling like crazy for week after week in all regions, but recently has suffered a decline in sales. Do you think it's losing stamina and starting the slow down in terms of sales.

What do you blame for the decline in sales for the Wii in Japan?

What are your thoughts on the Japanese market?

Much obliged my fellow Nintendians

Not sure if the Wii will, but I believe people who use the WII FIT have more stamina then those who play other consoles excessively.

Two and a half years without a price cut.

I'm not even going to say any more.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

And after that LBP will kill Mario and sell 10 m right?

Weren't the weekend's "Wii's death!" threads enough?
