Nintendo took time off from releasing first-party software because (a) it got a lot out early in the system's life cycle; (b) because it was waiting for third-parties to release some games; and 
it has been waiting for WM+.
It is doomed in the minds of those who never believed in it. But that has never changed.
And if it truly doomed -- than the industry is doomed.
