@scottie, to answer your question if motion controls are mandatory on either sony or m$'s systems then i wont buy their systems and will instead go with handheld gaming for my gaming needs. would i go gaming on a pc, if they have a option for a controler to play the game, then maybe i would choose that option. on ( 0 - 3 to choose from i choose "0" ). the only games i found that i love motion controls with were "legend of zelda:twilight princess" and "super mario galaxy" and "folklore".

Cheers for the answer, I've found a lot of people say they won't buy a console with motion controls and then don't answer as to what they would do if all consoles had them.

I wasn't actually a fan of motion controls in LoZ:TP. It very much showed that it was a port of a gamecube game. The archery rocked, but the swordfighting really was just waggle replaces pressing A. I found the best uses of the IR pointer to be shooting games, such as Metroid Prime 3 and RE4, and the best use of motion is generally the tilt controlling, such as Kororinpa or Mario Kart, not the 'shake the Wiimote to do something' that you see in many games

I think a motion control would actually deter me from buying a console. It just isn't necessary for every game like the Wii makes it.

I don't think that make much of a difference. That PS3 already has the six-axis. That is "MOTION CONTROL" for those who don't realise. I like the wiimote style but I also like the six-axis. If sony releases a wiimote style controler, they will also have a dual-shock style one for those who don't like wiimote. imagine playing high-def sword fight games... that could be cool.

However, the most likely thing to happen is that the PS4 includes full body motion sensing.

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

Certainly.

I don't think Sony would do that, though. They don't straight out copy Nintendo, they copy and improve it a little bit. And if it had improved motion sensing, I would buy it without a second thought.

I have no desire to buy the Wii mainly because of its games, not its control scheme, although I'm not a huge fan of motion sensing, I think it can be limiting in certain genres.

A choice between the two would be awesome.

It baffles me that people only think of motion when talking about the Wiimote.

Even without motion the wiimote still has:

- IR pointer. Easy to understand and simple to use for the new gamer and a fantastic addition for FPS and RTS fans.

- 2 piece controller. Great at easing the learning curve of controllers for new gamers and definitely the most comfortable for traditional gamers (IMO).

- Speaker. This is the most underrated feature of the wiimote and more important than rumble in my opinion. Fantastic addition for local multiplayer games, Mario Kart uses this really well. With an improved speaker (and maybe a small video screen) I think a next gen speaker-mote will allow for some great gaming and streaming features.

Ehem most of your adventages can be summed up by "great and intuitive for new gamers" why should I care about this considering i spent last 20 years by gaming on various joysticks, keybords, mouses, gamepads or arcade sticks/cabinets ?

I'd rather take mouse than IR pointer.

Wrong.

All of my points can be summed up as "accessible for noobs and advances for traditional gamers".

"Why should I care about an analogue stick? I can use a d-pad"

"Why should I care about a d-pad? I can use a joystick"

"Why should I care about a joystick? I can use a keyboard"

What advances ?

Mouse is better than IR pointer

2 piece controler is rubbish if you have to keep one part of controler pointed toward tv for long hours while operating second part with one hand.

I would prefer it to not have a similar controller to the wiimote.

When I play games I play them to relax, that is just the type of gamer I am. Last thing I want to do when playing a game after a long day of work is swinging my arms around or pointing at a screen.

I could live with it for on rail shooters though, I actually happen to enjoy those a lot.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

If either Sony or MS switch to a motion controller like the wiimote for their next consoles I won't be buying any of them, if it's just integrated into the normal controller then that's fine,

Don't give up on classic controls for a gimmick like the wiimote, it will come back to haunt us all :(

no i will buy it if it has games i want on it

It would depend on how good they precision was. If it was anywhere close to as bad as the Wii, I would neve buy it. I have a hard enough time with the joysitck's limited precision and the wiimote just sucks completely. Case in point: I do not own SSBB and I had never played any of the smash bros series in my life. My friend had it and had played it and Melee for hours and hours. And I still beat him 90% of the time when I used the GC controller and he used the Wiimote.

Wiimote the future? I laugh at your stupidity. However, motion controls do have a huge potential and I would have no problem using them if they don't suck like the Wii's controls. I would rather use traditional controls though.

Also, @ scottie. If all gaming systems next gen have wii-style crappy motion controls, I will game on my PC and my PS3/PS2.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it
