This is what always happens. When the Americans gets insulted, they respond with nationalist propaganda. Really constructive.

Nationalist propaganda??? You prove my point about the elitist anti-American views of Europe and Asia. We have a right to be proud of this great country we created out of a handfull of people, as well as the American lives we sacrificed to help countires that needed it (even though we didn't have to) What do we get in return? Anti-Americanism, and a lot of backstabbing. have you ever stopped to wonder why so many people want to become Americans? Could it be the unparalelled (albeit dwindling) freedom? The education? The healthcare (boy thats gonna start whole new thread war). The freedom of speach and religion? I suppose all that is more "propaganda"? Get over yourself!

Eh, I consider myself ultimately an American, but I don't see our country as being perfect at all. All the money we gave after WWII was in our own self interest to fight our Cold War. We funded war lords with weapons, took democraticly elected leaders out of power, etc. Now, we've kinda fucked the agricultural industry, especially for countries like Mexico. Our over producing of food and giving away of it doesn't do any good for the jobless farmers in those poor countries we give them to.

Also, take a look the car commercials now. I can understand why Toyota is constantly compared to, but why Honda? This was taken from Wikipedia (the most reliable source in the world), but Honda's the 6th biggest car manufactuer. Porche (Audi and Volkswagon), and Hyundai (along with Kia) are bigger than Honda. But ALL the commercials compare their cars to Toyota and Honda, rather than a Japanese and German/Korean car.

For those who think the OP is stupid, how do you think I felt when one of you guys claim that the 360 doesn't sell well in Japan because they're just xenophobic?

That one was a little over the top, but for the most part the Japanese people snub at Americans because we are "ignorant" and "uncultured". It stands to reason that people who feel this way will, for the most part, boycott American made products when at all possible. I believe that statement was made to show the O.P. how ridiculousely blind he was to the other side of the argument.

Isn't that the kind of statement itself "ignorant" and "uncultured"?

What was the first viable American console? If Sony are arrogant, what does that make MS for releasing the 360, knowing its build quality was so poor? oh before you say they didn't, you are talking about a global company that has been around for how long?. Two thirds of the worlds Xbox was sold in the US. As for Ironmans thoughts on WW, America only declared war on Japan in WW2. In doing this Germany & Italy declared war on the states. It wasn't so much the US going in to help Europe, (although they were tryng to help with materials) they were dragged in to it by the axis.
Tell me whats happening to people who voiced their concerns with the war in Iraq or question their country?, where the freedom & democracy is for people being locked up indefinitely with out trial. Oh and go and find a poor person and ask them about health care. That is why politics has no place in gaming, N.Genckel & Ironman. Truth is only a perspective, a view created by the victors and those in power.

I would say from what i see, given a viable choice Americans are more likely to buy American but this is no different to any other country.

Here is the problem.

Americans have proven time and time again that they are mindless sheep. Mind you not all are this way, but the majority paint the picture for everyone else. This is why America hates Michael Jackson, while in the rest of the world he continues to be the number one artist in music. The media completly rules the US. What the media says is the way things go, and until people are willing to care whether they have any real knowledge to the reality of things, this is the path the US will follow. The public will continue to believe everything they see on TV, in the newspaper, and every rumor that the internet conjures up that gains steam.

So to sum it up, Americans have become lazy and stupid. They believe any peice of garbage that hits them in the face is true, and they buy whatever will seemingly make them look cool. The sad part is, Wii could actually be a good thing for Americans. It could solve the overweight issue that the contry faces, but instead it gets bought, and forgot, because Americans are to lazy to even play it.

I half agree with you up to the bolded.

@bolded: It takes 40 hours of Wii Fit to burn the calories contained in a Mars bar. The Wii is no substitute for real, regular exercise.

I have a PS3, and it has no value as a games console. and its also struggling to have value as a player..I'm in the process of buying a Samsung Bluray BDP 1650 for playback, its 10 times the player that the PS3 is. the quality is much better on Bluray and HD Divx files. the upscaling too is improved along with the drives speed.

in my eyes the longer this goes, the best combo is a quality Bluray player and a Xbox 360 .that way your getting the best games software in the 360, and the best movie playback with the Samsung region free!.
and more and more gamers are taking this route!. because Bluray players can now be picked up for well under normal prices in most places like. and once they hit Best Buy at $99, .......PS3 sales will drop fast in the USA!

Wow, this thread got outta hand. I think its safe to say that US consumers are not protectionists and buy goods for their value to them. I haven't the time to read the whole thread so i'm not quite sure of all thats been said, but some of the posts have been ridiculous.

Wii Fit is to exercise what Vitamin C tablets are to fruit and vegetables.

1 year early.
good lineup in the previous years.
good continued linup the other years.

there is really nothing putting PS3 in front besides BR (if wanted) and exclusives...and even so, there is the price to consider.
