Forums - Sony - Why PS3 in US selling bad? Americans Nationalists? Buy American?

you know why Asia/some parts of Europe consider buying Japanese-made
things despite of the Japanese image(WW2 anyone?), it is because Japanese
tends to craft their products well...

I'm an Asian(Philippines) and I don't fucking care about these WW2 things.
people in my country LOVES to buy everything made from America and Japan
America for clothes and Japan for electronics and toys

I personally check for the reliability of the products i purchased

@Thread

In America? duh?, America is on the bad situation right now
so why Americans should buy the expensive PS3?
they can save a lot of money buying 360 or Wii for less

even though a lot of games coming from PS3 are exactly what I wanted
i don't even considering buying it now because i don't have the money(even for a 360)
heck, I can buy a Wii right now but still I would rather not...
games coming from each systems(exclusives) is one of the reason why
PS3 is trailing...
HALO 3 for example... HALO is consider as the BEST FPS there and where
did this game is on? -360

so simply, it is because of the price and the gaming taste of each individual plus
the marketing of the products!

PLAYSTATION®2 is the yesterday.....NOW.......still......A_L_I_V_E

I wish all Americans supported the 360. It should be on top, not the Wii.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

This is what always happens. When the Americans gets insulted, they respond with nationalist propaganda. Really constructive.

Here is the problem.

Americans have proven time and time again that they are mindless sheep. Mind you not all are this way, but the majority paint the picture for everyone else. This is why America hates Michael Jackson, while in the rest of the world he continues to be the number one artist in music. The media completly rules the US. What the media says is the way things go, and until people are willing to care whether they have any real knowledge to the reality of things, this is the path the US will follow. The public will continue to believe everything they see on TV, in the newspaper, and every rumor that the internet conjures up that gains steam.

So to sum it up, Americans have become lazy and stupid. They believe any peice of garbage that hits them in the face is true, and they buy whatever will seemingly make them look cool. The sad part is, Wii could actually be a good thing for Americans. It could solve the overweight issue that the contry faces, but instead it gets bought, and forgot, because Americans are to lazy to even play it.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

For those who think the OP is stupid, how do you think I felt when one of you guys claim that the 360 doesn't sell well in Japan because they're just xenophobic?

republican politics aside, the PS3 doesnt sell well in america because of the price point. 360 has moved beyond the hardcore gamer and is slowly creeping into the casual market. SONY with its uber price tag cannot do that, YET.

The PS3 may be better value- but it costs a lot, for eg. if I said you can buy a BMW for $100,000 when its value is actually $150,000 thats a good deal. But how many of us can afford to pay 100,000 up front. And why would you buy the BMW when you can get.. say a mustang for $50,000. The performance is similar- the BMW may be built better or have more features but for most ppl, the mustang would be just as great for a much cheaper price.

As for american foreign policy the less said the better, Clinton seemed like he knew what he was doing but Bush has completely obliterated any chance of making peace with the "common man" of the middle east.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

Nationalist propaganda??? You prove my point about the elitist anti-American views of Europe and Asia. We have a right to be proud of this great country we created out of a handfull of people, as well as the American lives we sacrificed to help countires that needed it (even though we didn't have to) What do we get in return? Anti-Americanism, and a lot of backstabbing. have you ever stopped to wonder why so many people want to become Americans? Could it be the unparalelled (albeit dwindling) freedom? The education? The healthcare (boy thats gonna start whole new thread war). The freedom of speach and religion? I suppose all that is more "propaganda"? Get over yourself!

...you went to michael jackson? lol

and your whole second paragraph sums up every teenager that does not live in a third world country. you can look at US, UK, JP, FR, GER, where ever and you will find most people buy 'whatever will seemingly make them look cool' its how people are, doesnt matter your region or your country. and the reason the wii is bought and forgot is because its not as entertaining as a ps360 on a beautiful 1080 52' HD tv

That one was a little over the top, but for the most part the Japanese people snub at Americans because we are "ignorant" and "uncultured". It stands to reason that people who feel this way will, for the most part, boycott American made products when at all possible. I believe that statement was made to show the O.P. how ridiculousely blind he was to the other side of the argument.
