My prediction is this

1.3m - 1.5m for SW.

110 - 130k for HW.

Yeah, because MGS4 didn`t make around 500k first week and sold 77k PS3s at 39,900 yen AND that was just MGS game, not FF, which by far more popular in Japan.

Don`t undererstimate PlayStation power in Japan, MANY did and many FAILED.

PS3 will go on the road of PSP in terms of sales and will sell even better, since PS3 will have more 3rd party support and still has many momentum left in Japan:

Imagine PS3 PRICECUT.
Imagine PS3 SLIM.
Imagine Gran Turismo 5.
Imagine New PS3 colors.
Imagine Many JRPGs.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

well judging by the sales of the demo im thinking the final game will easily do 2 million first week in japan and put the ps3 atleast 100k for the week in japan.

oh my gosh..THIS...GT5,PS3 price cut and diff colours would own jpn.....i cant wait 4 GT5 though,dats all i need..,SONY FTW !!!!!!!
