Blu Ray isn't needed.
Yes it is.
We'll miss you George.

My friends call me Hadoken because I'm down-right fierce
I can't imagine the Arcade units with Blu-Ray as it would likely lead to worse performance in games.
Also it would have likely lead to the 360 being delayed a year like the PS3 was and we would have missed out on some really good games.
Absolutely not. I don't want to be upgrading my movie collection when upscaled DVD's look plenty fine to my eyes. BluRay=greedy cash grab by movie studios.
Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.
Patiently waiting for: Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2
For Star Ocean 4, it definitely would have been nice not having to change discs to go back to old areas. It sounds like ToV will be getting some nice upgrades on the Blu-ray version because of the extra space. I would still use my PS3 for Blu-ray movies.
I think it's now time we get to a bigger storage medium next generation. CDs weren't needed when Floppies were ok, DVDs weren't needed when CDs were ok, now BD is not needed when DVDs are ok - get my drift.
At PS3/360 launch, the implementation of a BD drive was really high in cost. Currently, people over-estimate the implementation cost of Blu-ray drive instead of a DVD drive. $50 at the most now from what I've gathered talking to people that actually know this kind of stuff. Also, computer drives are less than $100 for 6x Blu-ray reader.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

No one is forcing you to upgrade your movie collection. DVD will be supported for a long time by BD players when they get to the point that all DVD players are BD players as well because of cost negligibility (2-3 years down the line). A sizeable market share (enough to keep BD alive and kicking for some time) thinks that BD does give enough benefit over upscaling. Aren't choices good?

@FinalEvangelion: I think people are talking about the price on the assumption that the OP was talking about having Blu-Ray on the 360 at launch.
In the next generation I'm pretty sure Blu-Ray or a similar medium will be standard (even HD-DVD is possible since it will be harder to pirate). By then drive speeds will be faster as well, either 4x or 8x speed will probably be used (18-36 MB/s).

Not if it was 100 euro's more in price, but probably for 50 euros.
I wouldnt mind an addon though, gives you at least the option. Xbox buyers like options and we dont like to get something forced upon us. Its a bad thing that we dont have the option right now.

Tales of Vesperia was only 5.9GB. They left 900MB unused.
Whatever didn't make it on, clearly had nothing to do with space limitations.
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
No because that is in contradiction with the 360 positionning.
More than that, a driver-less 360 make more sense to me than one equipped with a BR.
... now they did tried to sell the HD-DVD driver as an add-on...
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
