Forums - Website Topics - How were the admins chosen?

All the comedy replies are good (DGC's is my favourite), but I'm genuinely curious.

Come on, Brett! You banned somebody in this thread, and you didn't answer my question!

Maybe Brett is schizophrenic, and likes to make up personalities from all over the world.

Each and every one of them had to climb ancient mountains and retrieve legendary weapons. Then they all befriended huge eagles who carried them up to the cloud realm where they all fought eachother until only a select few remained, hardened and ready to rule these forums.

True story.

A series of physical contests, all very secret and very seductive by nature.

yes, it is a very secret process.

i passed it, but everyone knows im trigger happy so I'd probably IP ban anyone who is annoying me at the time. Best not to give me admin powers. This is why I just ask Keith or Nick to look into situations at times.

Is Nick TalonMan? It's confusing when you call each other by your first names... I know Keith is DKII, and Brett is Brett, but that's it.

Every 2 years 32 members are chosen for Tekken tournament... 4 of these contestants are admins that have underperformed during the past 2 years. [For the first tournament the 4 special contestants were just mods]. Losers were stripped bear naked, tied to trees and used for target practice of Dragonouv Rifles. The last 4 remaining contestants become admin [or retain their admin status].

When an Admin retires and a new admin is needed, 50 site members are gathered up and thrown into an empty olympic swimming pool. The pool is sheltered by safety glass with 30 air holes only 2 inches in diameter. There are 3 daggers at the center of the pool. THere's is also a timer set to 8 minutes for the pool to begin to refill itself. Last man standing is extracted b4 drowning. If all drown or are lost in some other way, the contest is re-held in 3 days.

LAWL

Okay, I might as well try.

It all began at a Mensa meeting. Brett paid them a visit, and handpicked 50 people who he thought could meet the admin criteria. They each had glowing yellow eyes, and spoke in deep, demonic voices.

Each of them was taken to a remote forest, blindfolded, and made to kill a lion with a spoon and a pair of chopsticks (while still blindfolded). Twenty survived. The others were left to rot.

Now, the final test. One by one, the admins would face each other. They had to kill each other, but they could not touch one another, it had to be with the power of their mind and the strength of their gaze. Only six remained, at a stalemate:

DKII
Naznatips
BengaBenga
TalonMan
ssj12
TheSource.

These were the names they were presented with by Brett. They were to never use their real names in public, only when talking to each other.

On using a scanner, Brett discovered that DKII, TalonMan and Naznatips' power levels were over 9000, and made them the three seniormost admins.

ssj12 was removed from his administratorial position after it was discovered that he was wearing glowing yellow contact lenses. However, Brett spared his life, and said that he may be included in the VGC private discussions, but could not wield the full power of administration.

Whew. How was that?

You have to fight to the death with another contestant, if you win you passed the first step to becoming an admins.

After that you to drive a miniture bike 360 degrees through a full pipe.

You have to be able to bench press 250 pounds.

You have to be able to sing every word in the song for Titanic - my heart will go on.

You have to own atleast one $250,000 or more car.

and then you have to drink 4 beers in 4 seconds.

Those are the requirements.

Sweet, I'm 1/3 of the way to being an admin. Shouldn't be too difficult to make it 1/2.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

I would love to join in on the fun, but since you said you actually wanted a serious answer, I'll take one for the team and give you one.

It's a combination of work on the site, having squeaky clean behavior as a mod, participating in staff issues (discussing bans, news articles, etc.), keeping in close contact with the admins. Generally being involved with the rest of the staff.

That's it?

How boring. So they're just promoted mods?

...No? That's not what I said at all.

You said they were mods who were well behaved, took part in discussions, kept in close contact with the admins with the glowing yellow eyes from MENSA who killed a lion with a spoon and chopsticks and can kill with a single glance (no seriously, how were the original admins chosen? Keeping in contact with then-ioi?)

So yes, they're just promoted mods.
