Why would he? You're not exactly the most reasonable and rational poster here.

Actually, there's a thread out there (one of those religioni/god/beliefs) where Kasz gave me valid, true, applicable arguments and I honestly conceeded to him. The problem is very few people can give me valid arguments, not my fault most fail.

You have some very strong preconceived notions about gaming topics, and in a way getting you to change them is like shifting someone to a new god. So of course no argument is ever going to be valid enough.

Man, I JUST covered that scenario in the very text you quoted. It's like you have selective reading. It's not my fault most people fail to present any valid arguments which fail to stand up on their own when they go through scrutiniy in the shower.

I think matchmaking is retarded, it's nice to have but only as a back up to normal server choosing. It'd be nice to jump in a game of equal ranked players, however that's not always the case. More often than not you want specific mods, addons, etc. on the server with specific rules, settings, etc. Something most console players don't even understand since mods/addons/settings/etc. don't even exist the way they do on the PC.

Why PC onine is better? First off, as stated earlier, avergae Joe generally plays on consoles (not saying everyone that plays is an idiot, even I have to play so I can call games shitty), and as I stated earlier, average Joe is a fucking idiot. What's worse is that I don't have a nice little chat interface as a buffer and I have to listen to said idiots to actually communicate in the game.

Then there's the whole matchmaking thing, which completely ruins the experience. I want to join a server with the least ping, with a specific mod, with specific people, and also know that people can jump in and out at any time they want to, even if there's 1 minute on the clock or 3 more frags to be scored (obviously the jon in whenever doesn't apply to RTS games, but they don't exist on consoles anyhow, good oens at least). Yes, when the fancy strikes me I'll join a server of equally skilled people, but that takes a backseat to mods, settings, and maps.

Ah, I see.  You mainly have a problem with matchmaking and voice chat.  Seems like that is only personal preference and not atrocious flaws with the system.  Also, not all console games have solely matchmaking services.  I, for one, think matchmaking is great.  You can pick playlists of game types you want to join and the game rotates your party between games against other parties, of the same skill, in various game types(of the same nature as the playlist you are in) and maps. This is how it should be.  A match.

As for voice chat, I couldn't live without it.  Especially when I am partied up with a group of friends.  Hands free communication that is easy to implement in every game.  PCs definitely have this option, but it is like a deserted wasteland.

As for mods, yes those can be cool for a match or two, but the majority are utter shit.

Another point to the overall online community. It's far more profound on a PC than it is on the consoles (probably because the people are already at their PC). New maps, new mods, everything is just far more cohesive. Also, just looking at UT2004, mods are fucking amazing. The Invasion RPG thing? Alien Swarm? Chaos? That one Invasion Overkill (or w/e)? All outright awesome. The main browser will even launch the mod when I click on a server running a total conversion mod.

Then you can look at WCIII, and while the main ranked matches are matchmaking yes (on Blizzard servers, not one of the guy's though), you have the whole server selection thing they have giong on as well.

As for voice chat. I don't want to listen to idiots, plain and simple, unless it's in WoW and I'm raid lead and have admin rights to the server.

The only mods I ever got into was Team Fortress for Quake and Battle of the Sexes for Quake 2.  All the others that I tried were just complete bollocks.  Tribes probably had the best map variant capabilities that I have seen.  It is much like Halo 3 in that the basic geometry of the map stays the same, but you can place structures and walls and such.  And the main benefit of this approach is that it was completely uninvasive to the client, no residue on my hard drive that I ever joined a server that had some random person's map or models.  But I can definitely see the benefits of mods.

So mods, voice chat, and matchmaking(which not all of them have) are why you have a distaste for console online gaming.  I was hoping for something a little more, not stuff that just boils down to personal preference.  Nothing much else to discuss here then.

Trollstyle:

matchmaking is a worthless piece of shit that only works for casual console FPS with 8-player max that rely on P2P hosting.

with that said, I think that it works for certain games (RTS) and other ones such as L4D but WITHOUT removing the ability to CHOOSE a dedicated server to play. L4D has left the server browser as borked option, and added an extra layer of difficulty with the whole group thing. they even tried to add matchmaking-like shit in TF2/DOD (the map list), but I doubt anyone use it. and what's worse, it constantly puts me in a game with Europeans, that's bullshit.

and teamspeak/ventrilo exists for ages, most game servers even have one teamspeak servers, with public rooms too.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

We can also go into Live's payment, and just the overall community, as I stated above. It's just more knit and more interactive than a Console's, since a lot of the people who play the game also contribute in some way to the overall community discussions about the game, not a small part, as is the case with console gaming. There is no reason to have a server browser and a matchmaker in games, but I don't even know if Live allows things like that.... At least not that I have seen. And mods are actually a HUGE deal, it's what keeps the game good and being played well after you've finished the main game.

You yourself don't make valid arguments. Therefore you cannot hold others to the same standard.

Invalid: Most PC gamers play without mods, so how can they use them more often than not?

Invalid: If Shio is right about the sheer number of PC gamers, there have to be more 'average' people playing PC games than console games. Therefore is the average PC gamer a fucking idiot? Your words not mine. Furthermore due to the fact that pretty much every PC is connected to the internet you'll find more 'fucking idiots' on PC game servers.

How come?

Tessellation is essentially means the GPU can work on a simple/primitive structure and then the tessellation unit takes that structure and fleshes it out into a much more complicated model. A more powerful GPU has the horsepower/bandwidth to do without a tessellation unit as it can do it all with brute force but simpler/weaker gpus do not have the luxury of power to spare so simpler models which use less ram and less bandwidth which also require less processing are a bigger bonus to them as they are cheap cards and they have to go without.
