Forums - PC - Infernal Engine showing off VELOCITY using CPU instead of GPU for physics

Pretty cool video showing off Infernal's VELOCITY physics and why it's awesome.  It lets the GPU do what it's supposed to do, graphics, and does all the physics stuff on the CPU.

It also shows off the physics based dynamic AI obstacle avoidance.

There's also a PS3 VELOCITY demo too showing off what it can do on the PS3.

The test scene with all the boxes was amazing. And the library with the book golem was great too.

I like that the engine runs phisics on the CPU, because CPU is usually under-used while GPU is the bottleneck in modern games.

Ghostbusters the game itself dont look very exciting though. Pretty but linear.

Looks amazing.. but for me it means nothing... CPU... GPU.. Meh... I don't care.. I just want to play the game!!! :) Bill Murray FTW!

Thanks for the vid!

I would obviously love it if everyone was batshit crazy for Ghostbusters but can't fault people for not being excited for a game.

Though glad to see you liked the box thing.  I admit, before GB I didn't pay a lot of attention to physics in games or how they were done, but after seeing some of stuff here, it's pretty cool.

Cpu/GPU? Euhm okay.

Anyway the game looks okay hope it will not be to dull.

the game is looking pretty good. i just might have to buy it :P

quick question the infernal engine is designed to put more stress on the cpu rather than the gpu, so does it work better on the ps3 with the multiple spu? i know its probably near the same on the ps360 just watching the ps3 demo one the dude said they like to do all their demo's n such on the ps3.

How fast do our CPUs have to be to be able to handle what the GPU was created for? Technically the CPUs can handle today's graphics too, it's just that if you have a whole different processor for it then it's much simpler.

GPUs exist so that the CPUs don't have to process graphics.
